Maybe they're using the huge amount of money that the Treasury received from the auction of mobile spectrums.

    I quote from the article.

According to communications regulator Ofcom, 96% of the population has access to 2G (texts, calls and basic mobile internet) coverage, while 95% has 3G (fast mobile internet) coverage, although this varies heavily depending on where you live.

Mobile coverage also varies depending on which network you are on, but you can usually cancel a mobile contract shortly after signing up if reception is poor, although terms and conditions will vary by provider.

Can't see why the whiners are complaining about this - anything that improves things (particularly for rural areas) should be good news and should help businesses as well as individuals.
And this is in addtion to the broadband improvements for those who are still living with 56k or less speeds.
And I think some of this money (not 100% sure) comes from the licence fee.

The 4G auctions are up for grabs next year from Ofcom, so the networks will be coughing up for that.

Nice to see the government helping the mobile phone companies to improve their networks.
Always knew there was a reason why I paid my taxes!

150million to improve things for 5-10% of mobile users, that's a joke however you spin it. Especially with the number of post-offices in rural areas they just let close.

Not only that, but when considering a whole population, 5-10% is a massive difference; sounds like they don't really have much clue how it'll affect people a all.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.

Well maybe if you were part of the 5-10%, then you would want some money being spent on you.

I think you need to get out and see what people who are still living on dial up internert and businesses which cannot operate because they do not get the communication links that most others enjoy.

Let me think what the previous government spent money on - £1billion squandered on an ID card project which proposed to charge people for the priviledge of carrying a little card in their pocket. £12 billion wasted on NHS IT project.

£150 million is loose change... keep it in perspective.
