as my post earlier, i so miss the H&B for toiletries.
luckily i can do what you do and last week i brought 72 toilet rolls from waitrose, only cos i got £20 off a £80 spend and a possibly £10 cashback, so i got stocked up, £80 worth of stuff for £50 as delivery was free too. brought months of supply of cereal from tescos as had £17 off £70 plus some other coupons, got a nice £105 shop for £75. cats are also happy for 3 months, dog isnt so lucky, shes only got 6 weeks of food.

Fifty flippin miles, for food shopping, flippin heck! I'd be very upset if I had to drive more than ten miles to do my shopping. You must live in the middle of the Scottish flippin Highlands :D

Rural Wales.:D But I did mention also it was bulk buying of non-foodstuffs mainly.

A 20 mile journey brings me to all the big stores. Add on a bit more for faffing about and a 50 mile roundtrip is about right which would cost about a fiver in fuel for my car.

However, if one is buying things like Persil for a fiver, from £12, then the savings add up considerably if also bagging other good deals like this at the same time.

I think its great to see the big supermarkets finally seeing a downturn after years of people just blindly handing over the cash.

why pay more for toiletries and grocery's when Home Bargains/B&N/Wilkinsons/£Stretcher and the rest offer the same product for less?

I hope this trend continues and we start to see the prices at the big 4 really start to tumble as they become desperate to compete.
