I have a bit of an obsession with finding bargains. (like im sure most people do).
I do my main shop in tesco, and try to use coupons and vouchers as much as possible. we dont have a favourite washing powder, so we try to buy ones on offer, or which work out very cheap with vouchers.
I then go into my local town to Morrisons in the week and shop around for their bargains, usually on fizzy drinks, multipack crisps, and their 50-60p bread they sometimes have in.
We then go to Home bargains which is amazingly cheap for tea, coffee, tinned products and any dried foods.
We came out with 4 bags of shopping for £8 last week. If you have the time to shop around, and grab yourselves a bargain, i highly recommend you do so!
we are a household of 3. Me, my partner and our 2 and a half year old daughter.
is there any particular shops you get your bargains from?

I do the same. I go to H & B, Wilko's, Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Saninsbury's and Asda (not all in the same week lol). I have certain things I like from each shop and shop around for offers. I think you have to do this these days, the days of going in one supermarket and getting all the weeks shop are over if you need to save money. I wont buy crisps from major supermarkets as they are so expensive but H & B often have good offers on like 6 packs of Wheatcrunchies for 49p when they are £1.50 in Tesco:eek:.
Im lucky as I work part time and have a good selction of shops and a car so have the time and means of shopping around. Many people dont and it must be so difficult keeping to a budget.I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round0 -
I go to Home Bargains, Asda and Sainsbury's. I love HB but spend more than I expect, as there is always something I see and think it's so cheap I'll have one.
I compare my list on mysupermarket and then pick and choose what I buy in either Sainsburys or Asda.
We don't have a Tesco or Morrisons nearby so I leave them out as savings would be eaten up by fuel. Trailing on foot between shops is driving OH mad though LOL0 -
i think its more of a rush if you can get an item for more than half the price you would pay somewhere else! i love to shop in tesco, because i use supersavvyme and beforeishop.co.uk to get lots of coupons for items
we are not a fussy family, and only have a few "favourite" items that we buy each week, so when we see something on offer or cheaper than what we usually pay it's a plus!.
I rarely ever buy toilet roll or kitchen roll in supermarkets now, as i got an 18 pack of toilet roll for £2.99 in home bargains, and in tesco, its over £6!
i am hoping to do a big stock up for winter, as last year we were eating beans on toast for a while, because our car isnt good in snow.
So i think i will challenge myself to get everything i need at bargain prices!Freebies recieved Oct:

shopping around is good if you can visit alot of the shops in just one car trip, without having to drive all round town. you waste alot of petrol just by starting a car up.0

Yes, all of them, if not most. 99p Store for things like toiletries, ground coffee, and Lidl & Aldi as well as the major hight street supermarkets. Do be careful when shopping in the 99p Store though as some items can be cheaper elsewhere.
Can sometimes be handy to arm yourself with a shopping list that includes prices from other stores as well. Be careful also not to write down prices in any of the stores you shop in as they can get quite defencive.
Try searching the following for offers as well:
HotUKDeals
mySupermarket
Mad About Bargains
You could also check Morrisons offers page from time to time as well.0 -
I shop in Tesco, Farmfoods, Iceland and Poundland all in one day looking around for bargains.
Occasionally i get to go to an Aldi or Asda but they're too far away and i dont drive so usually when someone can take me.
I love a good bargain:j0 -
whats with the 2 posters who have highlighted words in orange? , they seem to be advertising?
No it was me , my pc was infected ! apologiesVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
i use mySupermarket all the time.
they don't have Morrison as they are not online, but they have all the rest.
they show you all the deals from all the stores, so i really end up saving some cash0 -

I'd wager you would save even more if you used ASDA or Morrisons for your main shop. Tesco are hideously overpriced on almost everything except their obvious 2for 1's etc.
I also shop at all like you and buy what's on offer. I may fancy a bar of chocolate but will settle for Jaffa cakes if they are on offer, for example.
I also search stores online beforehand if I know I need to stock up on toiletries which are expensive.
I have sensative skin so only use Dove soap, shampoo, bath cream etc and almost always find one store or another where they are on offer. Last time it was Lloyds Pharmacy.
I haven't paid full price for things like that, and toilet rolls etc, for years, indeed, it probably works out at half price.0 -

I think you're right shipshape, and what you say would seem to be borne out by Tesco's poor trading results. I started to becme suspicious when Waitrose often have pricematches with Tesco! Obviously, not everyone has an Asda nearby but I'm confident they're the cheapest plus they have the 10% thing and I have one of their cards so usually get some vouchers at Christmas.
I generally do my weekly shop in Asda and usually visit one or more other shops during the week when I'm out and about. I don't find any of the others I use (Aldi, Lidl, Farmfoods) have enough to do a complete shop so I just stock up on the good value storecupboard/freezer items and take advantage of other offers while I'm there. I know I could probably save a little by going to Aldi/Lidl every week for veg but it wouldn't be worth the time/fuel to go there just for that saving.0
