simply use sharepod to extract the music from there onto your desktop then sync it over using the mp3 player you choose to buys software onto the mp3 player.
I don't - but my other half does - iPod and iTunes. I'm quite sad . . . have had the same 6 CD's in the car multichanger for a year!0 -
Well any mp3 player you choose will come with its own software to transfer so if you have the music outside of your itunes then it will be dead easy"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

Second the Sony - easy to use and charges very quick (daughter has one).
Use USB plug charger and 1 hour charge lasts at least a couple of weeks. When cycling, I pay the same road tax as any other zero carbon emission vehicle.0 -
Thanks to everyone for their help and advice.
The Sony it is then!0 -
I suggest Sony mp3 player.0

I just bought the Sony B163 mp3 player, so I can vouch for it. As some have said above, it's not as loud as some (my old Archos Key was louder) but it's well built and got a good sound quality.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -

If you are sure it will, fine, but might be worth double checking.
However a way round it is to convert the songs you want to copy to mp3 I tunes makes a mp3 copy . Then use media player add music future wich will pick up on the mp3 songs you just made .0 -
Just thought I'd update everyone that offered advice.
I bought the Sony NWZ-B163 off Amazon together with a [dual voltage] mains/USB plug for recharging. My other half has been copying songs from his iTunes onto a memory stick and passing it to me to copy onto my computer, these have been (mostly) in an .mp4a format. I've then used the (free) Switch Sound File Plus converter from NCH software [I already had this on my computer] to convert these files to .mp3 format which I've then copied onto the Sony mp3 player.
Really pleased with the outcome - may thanks for everyones help. My Aunt will be rocking on her cruise!0 -
With some MP3 (maybe all sold in the EU) players the volume is limited if EU is selected as your location rather than the rest of the world during the initial switch on/ set up. Nanny EU trying to force us to listen at a volume of their choosing.
I always select rest of world and decide whether to potentially damage my hearing or not!0 -
With the Sony, there is common settings and an option to have AVLS on or off0
