    The manager has contacted me and offered to pay if I produce a receipt for the repair.

    Is the offer is writing?

    The reason I ask is just in case he changes his mind when he see the bill which may be fairly high. (I'm assuming that you will be getting it repaired at an official Apple centre rather than risking one of the cheapie hisg st places).
