    Hi wam

I'm so pleased you're sounding more optimistic. I'm still getting my head round the highs and lows too. It really helps reading about your journey and you're doing so well.

beccie...I think I was the same in that I was convinced I could pay my debt off in a year or so. I feel a bit silly for that now...:D
If you know you have enough, you're rich. ;)
  • Hi Ani

I guess it's the realisation that as much as the debt needs to be cleared it's not gonna happen quickly & that there are unforseen expenses in life that cannot be avoided. e.g. car tyres punctures, kettles blowing up, etc.

Payday tomorrow so need to do accurate budget but there are some 1-off unavoidable expenditures in Nov., but as long as the debt manages to reduce by several £100's & credit cards do not get used then hopefully there's gonna be some progress.

Hi WAM - my unsercued debts are humongous so I am setting mini goals like no credit spend at xmas, clear certain cards/debts by certain dates etc otherwise I think I would just be overwhelmed by the whole malarky I would just give up. So look foward to the loan finishing in April :j but also try and set yourself a wee mini goal for between now and then to keep you going....

Beccie £1.1k a month is very impressive !
    CC debt Aug 2018 £50.2K
    CC debt Nov 2018 £48.6K
  • Hi Debs

We have something in common... huge unsecured debts :o unfortunately.

Thanks for the "mini-goal" idea. Think mine should be to earn as much extra £s as possible in Nov. & Dec., but it ain't easy. Hours & hours of surveys for not a lot in return.

I am amzed you are at £6 already with the survey thing - I have just got my first voucher - ordered £10 Boots voucher which I will using towards Christmas - have you tried Quidco - cash back site? useful if you are going to buy a few things online for Christmas

Mini goals is a great idea - they've defnitely kept me going. Mine have been things like dividing my debt into percentages to clear, and I'm even sad enough to count down the days till DF so I have something to tick off every morning :o

My main job is not well paid so most of my payments come from extra work, I think that's definitely the best thing you can do if you can.

Oo, another thing that's worked for me too is PADding - thread here before I never would have believed the difference it would make, even if it's just £1 a day :)

I would defnitely look outside surveys if you can WAM - I keep a spreadsheet of the different things I do to earn money and surveys are definitely the lowest earner.

  • Hopefully my luck is changing. Played jackpotjoy & won £5 on free daily bingo Probably need to wait a while to build up to £10 before withdrawing tho. Then that guy who always tends to deliver bad financial news inside envelopes arrived with a few letters including one from "HM Revenue & Customs"... my heart sank .... but it was a cheque for tax rebate that I had no clue whatsoever I was due. £357

  • Have a very costly month ahead but this little surprise means that debt should be reduced by a good amount, hopefully well over £600
