wot-a-mess debt crisis

Hey WAM, hang on in there, you've been doing great. It's upsetting and frustrating when you/we have to take a step backwards, and understandable that you feel down about it, but I'm sure you can get your mojo back soon.
I've had to put some stuff on the CCs between Jan and the beginning of Feb too and not feeling happy about it, but I'm trying to see it as a blip.
Hope you can get through this.

Thanks for all your positive posts
Yesterday was not the best day at all to put it mildly.
A few unforseen expenses really got me down. Why do we need domestic appliances & carscos they only break down & cost us money that we really don't want to be spending.
I was really into this debt-busting but sometimes it gets very hard when you have just patted yourself on the back for saving £10 for being frugal then the fridge or whatever breaks down & the car has a puncture the next day
Anyway I do actually feel better tonight & Im not gonna let the "debt devil" win.
Im gonna take my own advice:
"It's a marathon not a sprint" &
"Don't let the debt-devil win"
This forum really is jam packed full of very decent human beings. The support is fantastic.

Aw i'm so glad you're feeling brighter W-A-M. This debt busting malarkey is bloomin' hard to deal with because it takes so long to get to the end of the tunnel. It takes a lot of thought and sometimes it feels like its sapping every inch of energy, especially when the swerve balls are thrown. The key is to hold onto the thought of what the future will look like when we finally are debt free and no longer needing to be a wannabe
All these things can only make us stronger :AOne step at a time0 -
Hi WAM, I'm really pleased you're feeling stronger. I'm still in the first few weeks of my debt-busting - the 'honeymoon' period - so the novelty hasn't worn off yet. I daresay that will happen at some point between now and April 2019 (my DFD
!).
I'm sure you're right and it will sometimes feel like 'two steps forward & three steps back', but just imagine how it would be if we weren't being frugal. It would simply be the 'three steps back', and we can't let that happen! x
LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

Thanks again for your positive contributions. Despite the financial setbacks of this weekend there is no option other than to beat the "debt-devil". The debt-devil may win the odd battle but as long as we win the war that's what matters really & its certainly a war of attrition at times is it not.
Shall do the numbers in detail in a few days but it doesnt look quite as bad as it 1st seemed due to scanning online for many many hours getting the best deals for replacing the broken domestic appliances.
So it looks like this month may actually turn out not too bad due to strict budgets & very frugal spending.Pay off £14,000 in 2012 Challenge #21 (incl. mort.) £15,960/£14,0000 -

Glad you're on track again
I go to zumba once a week and it never fails to give me a lift. It's true what they say about releasing happy hormones
I've spent the last 20 minutes scouring the house for unwanted books that are in a decent condition. I've listed them on Green Metropolis. Have you ever used it? I think it's fab 'cause it automatically finds your book and you don't have to write endless listing info. I think it could be a while before they sell, but it's nice to know things are sat in the background ticking away. One step at a time0 -
Keep going WAM -you are giving me inspiration too.Been a bad month for us too and am struggling to get to end of month-definately more month than money and you are right -machines can be a problem.
Our income has dropped and expenses going up as for so many-we can only try to keep each other strong and thanks to all who give support to all on here.0 -
Hi Curly & hopeful, thanks for dropping in
Jan. & Feb. are always difficult months plus any time we put on the t.v. it's all negative things about the financial state of the euro-zone, double-dip recessions, high youth unemployment, football teams going into administration, etc., etc.
I was flicking the radio channels whilst driving yesterday & some economists were saying that it looks as tho in the UK & globally the worst could be over & things may generally be looking a bit more positive. But the t.v. last night was jam packed full of negativity.
Well we all need to try to remain positive even when things don't seem very rosy.
When I started this debt battle I thought "wot-a-mess we are never gonna get out of this", but then by reading thro much of this forum I soon realised it was a case of "wot-a-mess how can we get out of this"
Need to try to earn a few extra £s this week. Surveys perhapsPay off £14,000 in 2012 Challenge #21 (incl. mort.) £15,960/£14,0000 -
Whilst I agree the news is pretty down beat, on the other hand, I hope it has made more people think about their own personal circumstances and reassessed their spending. Yes no one spending is not good for kick starting the economy, but us all paying down debt does start to have a national positive economic effect. It just takes longer to start.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
