Please try really hard not to put the unsecured debt onto the mortgage. If something should happen then you could lose your home.....
Hi Chev, Great piece of advice. Unsecured debt defo won't be getting put onto mortgage.
Also a good idea to break into smaller chunks, perhaps £1k at a time is better.Pay off £14,000 in 2012 Challenge #21 (incl. mort.) £15,960/£14,0000 -

For what it's worth, I agree with Chev. It is disheartening when things seem to be happening very slowly, albeit in the right direction.
I've now started to set myself small monthly targets. December was to clear the last £180 on a loan. This month's is to clear the final £82 on a catalogue and to reduce my other catalogue to under £500 (it stood at £532 on my last statement). I'm using PaD (Payment a Day) to help me focus on this! I don't know if it's a thread you've looked at? Lots of support from some very friendly people. Have a look here if you've not seen it.One step at a time0 -

Hi Hopeful & Beccie, Thanks for your comments.
I've really struggled to make extra cash so the emphasis is on being frugal, trying to stick to strict budgets & hope that any unforseen costs don't raise their ugly heads. Some debt payments due in the next week so debt shall reduce further.
Had a look at ebay but it's not for me & surveys are simply too time-consuming so frugaldom it has to be I guess, as boring as it is.Pay off £14,000 in 2012 Challenge #21 (incl. mort.) £15,960/£14,0000 -

whilst surveys are boring, you can get onto some sites that are quite well paying, and have relatively low payout thresholds. Also bingoport is a free bingo site, where you can earn points to put to vouchers? Over the year if you get the right ones, you can over a hundred pounds in vouchers/ cash....

Jan. & Feb. have always been the 2 months of the year I have totally hated. This year is no different. Went out a run today & it seemed like Spring. What a great feeling being able to run outside again in the countryside without being blown away by gale force winds or drowned by torrential rain. Made me feel much much better. Certainly much better than sitting inside looking out at the horrid winter weather of late.Pay off £14,000 in 2012 Challenge #21 (incl. mort.) £15,960/£14,0000

Pretty non-eventful day but the good weather has made it much more pleasant.
Plan for this week is to spend virtually £0. Most people get paid early in December then have 5 weeks or more to wait for the January payday. January certainly is a long month financially for that main reason. Plus of course most people wake up to the dreaded xmas credit card bills.
Looking forward to this year being a real good debt-busting yearPay off £14,000 in 2012 Challenge #21 (incl. mort.) £15,960/£14,0000 -

Hi hopeful1, yes the war on debt continues. The worst thing is when unplanned, unexpected costs arise like car repairs, domestic appliances breaking, etc.
Another debt payment off current a/c today so debt reduced another wee bit
Managing to spend hardly anything this month so far
Next target: Get overall debt below £35k.Pay off £14,000 in 2012 Challenge #21 (incl. mort.) £15,960/£14,0000 -

I know, it doesn't take much to upset the balance does it? I have managed to squirrel away some savings over the last few months, which sadly have got to be used this week, but I would have been in doo doo without them! I have a lot of debt but i've also realised the need to have a little back up, particularly as I haven't got any credit cards.
Well done on your extra payment today and the lack of spendageOne step at a time0
