Another smallish CC payment today so total debt reduced a wee bit. :D

I read on a another diary a comment about how debt-busting initially really made their life pretty miserable then they changed course a little so that a balanced approach was implemented. i.e. pay quite a lot towards the debt but still enjoying life as well but without overspending. This to me seems the best course of action & it is actually the route we are taking.

All work & no play can make Jack & Jill very dull boys & girls.

  • Very quiet on the debt-busting front. Don't get paid til next week so spending virtually £0 just now.

Certainly seems a very long time since last payday

I completely agree with this. Life's too short. I am more focused and determined than ever and certainly don't spend much on myself. For me it's more about finding money for my children. It's not their fault I was poop with money. That said, they are certainly not spoilt. I would also fail miserably on the OS boards as I buy mainly branded foods, but compromise by only buying them when they're on a good offer :D I think the main difference is I engage my brain and think before I buy anything and am certainly not frivolous.

Thankfully I have an early payday tomorrow :T Although it will all go to bills / debt so I don't know why I'm so excited :p

This month has been pretty tough financially, although the debt has not increased :D

When I do eventually get paid next week it'll be 6 weeks since last payday.

However I've still kept focussed & not spent very much at all during Jan. so looking forward to the 1st half of this year to have a real go at debt-busting.

We all must stay focussed, positive & strong no matter what the "debt-devil" throws at us :)

THE biggest factors in my debt-busting mission have been the controlling of spending & planning budgets.

  • Major setback - a necessary domestic appliance packed in. Got an estimate for repairs but would be throwing good money after bad so need to buy a new one. So circa £300 needs to be spent. Total disaster & a real major setback at this time of the year. :(:(:(

You sure you need a new one? Have you checked freecycle?

I got a fridge from freecycle 5 years ago. I planned to have it for a year or so til I could afford a new one. It's still going strong. The old owners just needed a bigger one cos their kids were getting bigger and eating more food. (Also it had loads of stickers on the front that I think maybe they couldn;t be bothered to clean off. Took 10 mins.)

    It's just a thought. :)

Without going into detail....Absolutley totally F****** awful start to Feb. & to be honest im now starting to wonder if its all worth it to try to scrimp & scrape.

Im gonna give it til end of this month & if things dont look like impoving im gonna stop the diary cos whats the point really. We save a few pennies here & a few pennies there but then get hit with bills for many 100s here & many 100s there. So it all seems so totally pointless. Always seerms to be 2 steps forward & 3 steps back.

Circumstances are such that it looks like debt gonna increase in Feb. by a substsntial amount which is a total nightmare.

So whats the point really :o

Lets just live a healthy life & dont bother about money cos u're a long time dead anyway :o:o:o

Totally p!ssed off right now :(

I know where you're coming from. I've had to increase my debt by a fair old amount too. I've felt really carp this week but have picked myself up today. If I focus and keep chipping away it will get better every year and a little easier. Life /health is more important but sadly money worries impact on both. Take some time out and then come back to it with a fresh head. Try not to let it all get you down. Big hugs x

Hi WAM, sorry to hear you're so down. Are you able to tell us what the problem is? You never know, someone may be able to offer some help, and I can guarantee that whatever the problem is some of us will have already been through it!

On 16th January you wrote on my diary, and you said to me "Just remember that it's a marathon not a sprint". That was excellent advice which I took on board, and I am now saying the same to you!

Chin up and keep posting x
