were do i stand?

i had an accident today came off a roundabout and the car spun and hit the rear of another car that had already done the exact same thing before me, we swapped insurance details and he got his car recovered, the recovery man said looked like he had wrote his car off before i even touched his ( by the looks of the front end) so im wondering where do i stand with my insurance as he already had wrote it off before i hit his car? will i lose my no claims?

If you don't mind me asking, why had you both spun at the same spot? Was there something on the road service? or driver/s error?

apparently with it being hot yesterday then raining today made the surface slippery when the police finally got there 2 hours later they said there had already been the same incident there this morning then while we were waiting for the police 2 more cars skidded but didnt crash and after the vehicle i crashed into another came round and crashed in the same spot

OP, was the other car already stationary when your car hit?

Actually I 'm not sure that matters too much as it appears that you drove your car into the other car.
It sounds like you were not driving in a manner suitable for the conditions.

You can probably work out from that what the effect on your NCD will be.

Wouldn't worry too much about it, sometimes people forget that accidents do happen and this is why we have insurance. Despite the other vehicle already being damaged the other insurer will still need to decide what portion if any they try to reclaim from your insurer.

Just give them the details and let both companies do what they're paid for - you will lose a portion of your no claims and insurance will rise - but unfortunately such is life.

Please understand that I am not criticising anyone, but if the other car was stationary and your car hit his car then can you not see which driver is more to blame?

Again, I am not saying it is your fault, and I know it may be difficult, but clearly you lost control of your car.

Maybe you need to ask the police/highway authority why the road was allowed to get in such a state.

    Rodenal is right.

Your car was the moving one so you hit his car, whether it was with the front, the back or the middle bit! I don't think you can lay any blame at the door of a stationary car!

I think you will have to take this one on the chin and do as per rodenal's excellent advice and let the insurances companies fight it out.

I think the OP wants to know if you can damage ( in terms of the owner losing further money) a car that is already written off. IE for a claim there has to be a loss . I don't think he is denying responsibility for the secondary bump.

I'm guessing the first driver will go for the back end damage first and get the car written off as a no fault accident rather than claiming on their own insurance.... i know I'd be tempted to try it.

I’m guessing yes, a salvage car with smashed up front but intact back end is going to be worth more than one with both ends smashed.
