I was trying to pay someone £0.55 using Barclays online payment. This was refused because payment less than £1 not allowed. I was able pay using HSBC online.
I have raised another offcial complaint to Barclays.

You complained because Barclays doesn't allow anything less than £1 over transfers? Jeez.0

So sending messages by sequences of faster payments where 1p=A and 26p=Z is out for Barclays

How does this attitude square with the notion of contactless debit cards? If the bill is less than 0.55p do you have to queue in Barclay's to pay it ?

Well why the hell are you here then, if you wasted one of barclays agents time putting a complaint through for 55pence.

And they tried to make out cheques were redundant.
So what do you do if your Barclaycard statement balance is 55p? If you don't pay it, you'll get a £12 late fee and a mark on your credit file.."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
I had that issue with Halifax but it's easily solved. For example if I wanted to transfer 55 pence I would transfer £1.55 then ask the other party to transfer £1 back. Problem solved!0

Should we even ask what cost 55p in the first place?
Next up if Barclays ever resolves this problem.... Why did my 55p not go by FP?!:rotfl:0
