I bought a suit and it was poor quality .I could see through the fabric
what are my rights as to returns .
The seller states they do not accept returns ,but I have not contacted them about this yet .
I am not sure if they are a business or private seller but they have 100% feedback and been a member since 2003 and they have 19 other items for sale .

Firstly you need to check if they are a business, it will say in the box under the feedback score on the auction page.

If they are a business then just email and say you are returning the item (make sure you send it back fully tracked). If they are a private seller then no harm in asking for a refund, if they say no then try a paypal dispute for SNAD.

  • Soolin, the suit is as described though, just poor quality, and you complain about buyers taking advantage of the system

Soo is usually very even-handed. I don't see how Old Git is trying to play the system.

As to whether poor quality or not, if it is threadbare and that was not mentioned in the listing or the damage was not obvious from the pictures, then it could be said to be

Also, if the seller has misrepresented this suit as being in better condition than it is it doesn't give confidence to people buying online. It's not possible to inspect something up front so buyers have got to have some rights to return if the quality is not what the seller said it was.

They mentioned poor quality and see through material- and I admit i did just assume that OP didi not actually buy a suit described as poor quality and see through. Therefore I thought an SNAD was the correct suggestion to make- however the seller may well just refund on safe return

the suit is listed as new ,firstly new without tags then in bold red capitals new with tags .( no tags on it )
It is polyester but you can see through the fabric which is not as I expected and not as shown in the pics . I shall wait to hear from the seller

I received this reply from the seller
    Hi there
I'm sorry that you are disappointed with the suit. I always try to be as accurate as I can when listing an item. I do state that I do not accept returns on my listings though as I am not a commercial seller. So I'm sorry, I don't want you to return the suit for a refund. I can give you a partial refund as you are disappointed. Would that be acceptable to you?
    Best wishes

That's a bit like walking into an open pit as far as they are concerned.

It's not up to them to determine whether their listing is accurate or not as they are not the person paying for it.

    I would open a dispute.

Send them the reply you would only be happy with a 99.9% refund or 110% as it will cost you something to throw it away.

Either way, If they dont make a genuine sensible offer you only need to file a Not as described dispute, Returned with tracking number at your cost then you will get a refund. Only costs is the return postage.

But it must be tracked and even if they reject the delivery you will get a refund.
