  • I dont think she is in the real world. Give the money to people like me who earn a dam sight less and have to work many more hours. Also how many childminders do you know charge £5.83 per hour?

Give the woman a break.. if she does earn that much she must have worked very hard/trained/uni.. so shes earned it.. so stop yer greeting because you are unable to earn the same amount.

If shes entitled to something shes entitled to it.. if not well shes not..
  • Come to think of it, if you work 16-18 hours a week and you send your child to nursery full time at a cost of say, £110 a week would they pay the full amount since they dont know your working patterns? Is this not open to abuse, for parents working 16 hour/2 days a week to send their kids full time giving them 2-3 days a week at home with no kid to do as they like and claim 80% back in Tax Credits?

Who's to say that person doesn't work 5 days a week 11am-2pm?? Thus, strecthing across 2 sessions?

Its an interesting subject, does anyone know what would happen?

I would imagine the nursery would have to fill in a form stating what days and hours they looked after a child for the parent to be able to claim the nursery costs, see what you are saying though how it could be left open to abuse if this wasnt the case.
  • All that would do is confirm they are actually sending the child there 5 days a week, it wouldn;t confirm whether the parent is actually working or socialising during that time!!

On another note, what happens if you work from home or are self employed?? You could claim a full weeks nursery costs, and then spend a couple of days a week having lunch with friends and having "free time" without baby, or even dropping them off and going back to bed til mid afternoon, paid for by the taxpayer!!
