can anyone suggest anything??? Is this a con?
Hi i posted a while ago because we had bought a car and the day we bought it my husband filled it with diesel at morrisons. the car promptly broke down a few hours later so we rang the dealer who we bought it off he came out and couldnt suggest anything so we left the car with him and he had it towed to a garage the next day. He rang us to tell us that the car had broken down because it was full of petrol!!!!We had to have the fuel pump / injectors/ fuel filter etc replaced will a bill of 2k as an engine flush didnt work. we pursued morrisons as the obvious thought to us was that they had sold us petrol instead of diesel ( we have our receipt and a copy of their cctv showing my hubby using diesel pump) we have had trading standards on the case and afetr a full investigation it has been proved that morrisons are not at fault. so who is???? someone must have drained off the diesel and put petrol in its place and the only people that had access to our car is the dealer and the garage who repaired it. we are wondering now if the car had genuinely broken down and the dealer has known that it was going to be a costly repair ( we have a 2 month warranty with him) so he has done this to cover up the fault so we have to foot the bill or the garage that repaired the car has done it (not really sure what they would have gained out of this other than to make the job a bit bigger but they would have only made extra money on the labour charges and its a big busy garage not as if they are strapped for work!!) the car is a 56 plate mondeo 2l diesel when it broke down it chugged a bit there was a bang and black smoke and then it wouldnt start. it was trying to turn over but unable to.
Just wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions as to what we can do next - is this classed as criminal damage or fraud?? I am going to contact the police next! any suggestions very gratefully received many thanks!!!!

If it was petrol in a diesel pump at the garage then the fault lies wth the garage to rectify any problems.
Write to them and state that they need to settle this with you or you will take legal action against them to recover all cost's involved.0 -
trading standards have been out and have investigated it throughly and have contacted the head office. there have been no other complaints than mine and trading standards have said hundreds of cars would be affected. i wrote to morrisons threatening court action but they have written back to say they wont acccept the claim as everything is in order and no one else has complained0

Well then if they are saying that know else reported a problem then it looks like a case of suffer the loss unless you can prove otherwise.0

thats the problem! someone removed the diesel and filled the car with petrol and i dont see why we shud have to take the hit of 2k thats why i posted to see if anyone had heard of this happening before or if anyone knew if i could take further action0

Who removed the diesel from your car ?0

Thats what i am trying to work out it can only be the dealer as we left it with him overnight when it broke down and he arranged to have it towed to a garage to have it looked at or the garage that repaired it they are the only people that have had the keys and car0

Well again its a case of prove it so I think you are going to struggle some what here and may just have to suffer a loss, not nice but little else you can do.0
-
thats what i am afraid of but seems so bad that someone can do this and get away with it0

Cannot offer anything else here and maybe a case of bad experiance and move on albeit an expensive one.0

Somethings awfully not right here and I can only suspect you of having filled the the car with the wrong fuel, Full stop.
Red herring and disguises are all around, sorry for my suspicious nature but, you can't expect that story to be believed,:oI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
