    in Internet explorer.

Got to Tools>Internet Options>Content>Auto Complete and clear forms.

    That should do it.
  • To remove an individual search, highlight a search term in the drop-down box and press the Delete key.

If you use the Google Toolbar - you'd click on 'Clear History' in the dropdown box. G

Could you be more specific please? Have been using the Google one for years with no problems - I disable the page-rank feature though.

Even without the toolbar Google's supposed to be bad news according to this article (the damning points are at the bottom). What difference, if any, does the toolbar make? G

Thanks for replying, but you didn't answer my question:

The article's basically saying Google's dodgy - toolbar or not. But you said the toolbar is dire

The article also says, "Google's toolbar is spyware: With the advanced features enabled..." - but I turn them off, not that it makes much difference according to the article  :p, G

So you want me to exlain something that you have already explained to yourself How Bizzarre

Ok then Googles toolbar or any other toolbar is soft spyware some more than others, and most people dont use a toolbar with the advanced features disabled so yep they are well and truly using a piece of rubbish and whats the point of having theese advanced features if they are disabled?????

Also there really isnt much use for toolbars apart from giving the GUI a naff looking interface and shrinking the browsers viewing space.

Also you use google so you are having a biased view of the toolbar and would almost certainly defend it, form fillers are ok tho as long as a good one is used, need the weather report? look out the window, need a password wizard? dont bother as all your passwords are now easily accesable to the local thief, need a spell checker? learn to spell.

Basically its just a unwanted piece of junk software. :p:p:p:p

    :D:p

    Criticism Google Toolbar
Google has been criticised for bundling its toolbar with many free products and services, such as MSN Messenger, in an attempt to clandestinely install its toolbar and set as many users homepage to Google by using small print and defaulting the installation selections to 'on' when the user is questioned on what to install. Previously they had included the word "recommended" in the question to install in an attempt to impersonate Microsoft Windows system installation procedures. This was stopped when many Web commentators roundly lambasted Google for attempting to trick novice users into doing "safe installations" by clicking on everything that was "recommended".

    Controversial bundling MSN Toolbar
The toolbar is bundled with some popular freely-downloadable software; most notably MSN Messenger. The option to install the software is selected by default, and some users see this as unethical - as it is similar to the tactics used by some P2P programs to trick users into 'consenting' to having spyware on their computers. However, many other companies bundle different pieces of software into one installer (e.g. Apple's QuickTime for Windows download also installs iTunes) and the MSN Toolbar itself is not 'harmful' in any particular way. If the user decides that he/she does not want the toolbar, it can be uninstalled without affecting the software it was bundled with.

    Yahoo! paid inclusion controversy
In March 2004, Yahoo! launched a paid inclusion program whereby commercial websites are guaranteed listings on the Yahoo search engine after payment. This scheme is lucrative, but has proved unpopular both with website marketers (who are reluctant to pay), and the public (who are unhappy about the paid-for listings being indistinguishable from other search results). As of Oct 2006, Paid Inclusion doesn't guarantee any commercial listing, it only helps the paid inclusion customers, by crawling their site more often and by providing some statistics on the searches that led to the page and some additional smart links (provided by customers as feeds) below the actual url.

Yahoo! has also been criticized for funding spyware and adware — advertising from Yahoo!'s clients often appears on-screen in pop-ups generated from adware that a user may have installed on their computer without realizing it by accepting online offers to download software to fix computer clocks or improve computer security, add browser enhancements, etc. Similarly, Yahoo! has received adverse comment for bundling their Yahoo! toolbar with other software (Macromedia Flash 8 is an example) with installation being the default setting. The toolbar itself has been noted as taking up a lot of screen-space when installed. Also Windows users will find themselves unable to uninstall the toolbar by normal means on Internet Explorer. It can be uninstalled normally on Firefox.

Thanks for that j davies, but I think you've missed my point again :D. Let me try to explain again......

When you said "google toolbar its dire" - my thoughts were: "Why his he saying that about the toolbar when Google as a whole is supposed to be dodgy? Why is he only 'attacking' the toolbar?". Hence, the debate was not about Google & its toolbar being dodgy - we've determined & agreed to that - it was about why you condemned the toolbar but not the search engine.

The "Basically its just a unwanted piece of junk software" article we've both been referring to is not just about the toolbar (software), but the Google search engine as a whole, of which the toolbar is a part (another point you didn't get by the sounds of your reply :))

I'm not defending anything or that they are OK (those are your words entirely ;)). There's nothing 'bizarre' in my posts - you were simply not understanding my point.

Let's call this quits then, shall we? There are much more important things we could be discussing - & this isn't getting anyone anywhere! G
