All you can do is message him apologising for not being able to send out any sooner as you mentioned you were on holiday until the 4th in your listing. You wonder if he would be kind enough to consider revising his feedback?

The dispatch time on your listing is the thing that counts, not your extra info in your description.
Buyers don't read all the info a lot of the time.

Best not to list things when you know you're going to be on holiday.

Unfortunately it doesn't sound like you have any grounds for removal- you could try ebay but I don't want to raise yoru hopes too much. Out of interest how long between buying and shipping was it?

it finished on the 30th and we sent it off on the 5th ,plus the dispatch time was 8-10 days anyway(ebay put it at that not us)

Ebay default is 2 days so at some point you must have changed your despatch to a longer period. However buyers are asked for their interpretation of how fast the item was despatched, not whether it met seller terms.

When you say eBay put in the dispatch time, that's the one that counts, not the one in your description.

8-10 is actually a long time to dispatch.

Buyers expect their items really quickly!

See if there's anything you can do to offer a much faster service.

    Best Wishes

i dont remember changing the dispatch time an even if we did, surely its wrong to leave negative feed back only after a few days when the dispatch time clearly says 8-10 days

kAs buyers we all judge one seller against another. So compared to other sellers th eexperience they had with you was 'negative' and they left appropriate feedback.

It is the way it is set up, not 'did the seller do what they said they would' but how you compare with what they expected.

Just a thought, that isn't the delivery time is it and not the despatch time?

Sounds like a delivery time, not dispatch time.

eBay give generous times because they don't allow buyers to open INRs until three or four days after the expected arrival date. I agree with this as it may stop trigger-happy buyers who don't read the listing. However, the dispatch time is also stated on your listings and so you need to match everything up to make sure buyers know what they are getting themselves into when they buy.

5 days isn't hugely long but as people say, two or three weeks before going on holiday you shouldn't be thinking of listing at all - you will not be there at EOA to deal with the situation if problems arise and you are being unfair on people by holding their money for a longer time than necessary before posting. It it so much easier to cope with this if you don't make your buyers confused as to dispatch time listed as default - I'm glad eBay put 2 days, that's what Amazon apparently insist on so it's standard across other sites - versus what you print in the listing.

Also something which you might like to consider as a psychological lesson in how buyers look at listings: a lot of sellers think what they write takes precedence in buyers' minds over what the photo shows or what the standard information. It's actually the reverse - eBay buyers will use the form information as a guide, alongside the photos and only then seem to read the listings. So, effectively, you're hiding things from where the buyer looks first when they look at an item listing. You can cope with this by making sure everything matches up and is consistent throughout the listing.

Buyer sounds a bit hasty if it was only a few days' difference but equally, you are the one with control over your sales, you need to plan things so they don't clash with other commitments.

I got my second only negative feedback in 12 years this week and first for over 6 years.

Item was lost in post (buyer didn't check with local sorting office) I gave buyer full refund as soon as they asked which was after 2 weeks and said that in my experience they usually turn up and if it did I would post it out free of charge for item and postage.
They left me negative feedback after sending an email saying I was lying about having posted it! Item turned up at my house on Saturday so I guess it had been in sorting office for 3 weeks. Don't think I will be sending it back to them.

You can't win with some buyers. Just rise above it!
