    All vehicles have a chassis.

    The Mini (among others) doesnt, it has subframes which are bolted direct to the body.;)

    OK I'm being pedantic. As I said above, a 'chassis' is not one component, it is a collection of subsystems... suspension, brakes, steering etc. On some cars (e.g. Land Rovers) this collection of bits is fixed to a ladder frame... hence the term 'ladder frame chassis'. Similarly, on some sports/racing cars the bits are fixed to a space frame... hence the term 'space frame chassis'. On others (e.g. Minis) the bits are attached to one, or more, subframes. Some cars don't have any separate frames and the chassis subsystems are attached directly to the body. In this case the chassis is integrated with the body and cannot be separated from it.

    It's still there though.
