Or maybe its something to do with me and all my mates knowing how much it costs to build a house as we are in the building trade.

I really cant see any of my mates paying 150k for something that costs 30k to build, best to just wait till the real houses come down in price:)

    1) Not all of the price is the building cost.
    2) If you think there's the remotest chance of prices dropping from 150K to 30K I fear even cloud cuckoo land is out of reach.

Of course they can afford the prices. They're paying as much in rent as they would for a mortgage. It's the deposits that stop people buying.

They can't afford it as they can't afford the deposit.

It's a ridiculous argument to suggest they can afford it, just they don't have the monetry requirements.

Maybe you should have made your point clearer in post 4, where you never mentioned the word deposit and stated they couldn't afford the price of the house.
If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.

    They can't.

If they don't have the money and can't access the money, they cannot afford it. Simple as.

Why does my point have to be any clearer? Do you find it somewhat difficult to understand that if someone doesn't have the money...they can't spend it? Not really surprising.

You seem to be utterly confused. I didn't even mention the word deposit in post 4 like you are suggesting.

May I suggest you read, and think before posting?

Any idea how much they would be prepared to pay?

When myself and Mrs Pimp were in London yesterday we took along a small stove and some cooking implements so that we could cook our own meals (no way we were paying what they charge for a meal in a restaurant in London when we know how much it costs to buy, prepare and cook it).

Yes i know about land costs as well.

I can get a terraced house for 30k in my area.

    Cue...........you live in a 5hithole though:)

See Hamish hasn't responded to my initial point. Strange that.

He goes on and on suggesting the only way prices will fall is to build more houses, and the bears stopped this by wanting a crash.

Then, suggests that building more houses is the end game for the bears.

And reduced lending is the end game for the bears. Higher interest rates will be the end game for the bears as they will have paid so much in rent by that point.....yadda yadda. Everything is the end game for the bears.

I'm surprised he can't figure out that he's going from thread to thread disagreeing with himself.

Hamish could be worried about something so maybe this has affected his memory:)
