  • I am sure Orange was at the bottom of a list of providers in some survey done by the BBC. I'd go on the bbc website and do a search on it, as orange is meant to have very high number of complaints and problems. They also charge you for each MAC code request
  • I'm on the free broadband and i really can't complain. Have been with Nildram, Virgin, Pipex and others in the past and so far Orange is fine.

It was enabled before the 10 working days they estimated, the people on the phones are very friendly and knowledgable.

They provide a free USB modem (including 2 micro-filters) but i was told it's this that limits the free product to 2Mb. I'm using a seperate modem/router but haven't yet checked what speed I am actually getting.

If you do a lot of downloading then if you go over the 2Gb download limit 3 months in a row they automatically upgrade you to the unlimited broadband (£5 a month).

going2die_rich what do you mean by charging for each mac code request?

    Hope that helps.

I dont do a lot of downloading so 2 should be enough for me , I would like to stay wireless as I only use a laptop , I think now wireless routers are as cheap as access points. I just wondered if anyone has a preference for any particulare model.

I have Orange and the wireless Livebox which is excellent - this comes as standard on the Orange Unlimited package (extra £5 per month however might be included with the basic package which is free when you take out an Orange mobile contract of over £30 per month) and also includes VOIP calls (free to UK landlines and cheap rates to others including international). I run a desktop, two laptops and a printer off the Livebox with no problems.

How do you go about setting up an existing modem to orange broadband - I have a wireless BT one and can't find out how to set it up for orange. Is there any codes or a website page somewhere about it?

Type kb193 into this webpage to see the Orange settings.
