San Francisco ROM

Hi,
After a bit of research I just got an Orange San Francisco for my wife, plenty info on the web (too much! confusing!) about reflashing it.

Can someone point me at a good ROM, it doesn't have to be the latest flashiest version of android. 2.2 is fine and as plain and simple as possible. Stability is crucial, and preferably all the basics (gps, camera, wifi etc) working ok. Primary function will be a phone.

Lots of threads on sites claim to be stable but then the posts start to follow of various issues. So anyone been running a good ROM for a long time without issue?

(I am a Windows Mobile 6.5 sort of person so on a learning curve!)
Thank you.

  • I would suggest either Japenese Jellyfish or Modaco Custom ROM r12 as a good start, both froyo, 2.2 versions of Android.

Best of luck mate, I made the same move & it's worth it imo.

In June it was announced that Orange/ZTE were going to release an official upgrade but since then, silence. Anyone know any more?

The Skate/ Orange Monte Carlo has been out for a while but so far no-one has been able to unlock it from Orange.

  • I'm using swedish spring on my OSF. Very good however this is the only rom I've tried. I just got fed up with the unused (and rubbish) orange software cluttering up the phone. New rom is much cleaner and faster and I think the battery lasts longer since not so much stuff running.
