It seems that only in this country this is allowed to happen. Travel anywhere in Europe and you can stay as long as you like for free in the motorway rest areas.

Of course the operators of the service areas in this country would argue that putting a time limit on parking prevents "park and riding". But is that a widespread problem, especially as many service areas are stuck in the middle of the countryside, miles from the nearest town.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Perhaps if a few French and German tourists overstay, on these Service Areas and they try to chase them through the french and German Courts for their invoices, people will further wake up to these parasites and their busted "Industry" Mind you they don't do UK court so would be even more out of luck over the channel.

When was the last time you saw a motorway services carpark more than 3 quarters full?

If the car-park operators charged a nominal fee (say £3) payable by cash if you want to park there all day than people would be happy to pay it

Then they would spend more time looking for wheels 1/8th inch out and cars being the wrong colour etc. The logic of making more money by encouraging people to park there obviously escapes them.:rotfl:
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

It would be interesting to see if another condition is to provide a safe place for a motorist to rest during a long journey, and whether this stipulation allowed the company to place a time limit on parking in said safe area.

To be fair, there isn't a time limit. There's a limit to FREE parking.

    However, still ignore the scum!
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
  • Do these cameras that cp plus use, only photograph you if you leave the carpark after the limmit, or take photos of every entry and exit even if cars just drove through and out? because, if things do start getting worse, I could then say, that it was my car going in, but its not my car leaving, because the registration plate does not show on the car which leaves, it is at night, the same as mine, but there was more than one silver mondeo mk1's made. when I was away, I asked my Mum to phone them to extend it, then write a letter saying like at hte beginning, I was tired so saw the signs and took the break, but if I hadnt of asked her to write, then I would have said, I cant see any driver inthe image. The reason im panicing about all this, is because my Mum is 76 and the thought of baliffs comming to the door isnt fair on her, and what if they are the same, and claim to be real, and bang our door down.

You are still giving this too much thought. You will not be going to court, you will not have bailiffs coming to your mums door. It will not happen!
CP Plus get enough people to pay first off, they then get a few more who pay after a letter or two, then another few who pay after the debt collectors letter. Those that are left are then forgotten about, CP Plus know if they took anyone to court, even if they won by any means they will have lost money!
It doesn't matter if the cameras have your car reg Number, it's VIN Number, your NI Number, your telephone number it wont go near a court.

Bailiffs cannot come to the door over a fake PCN (without you losing a Small Claim court case and then refusing to pay...it would not happen).

As is very common, you are muddling up debt collector threat-o-gram letters with court bailiffs (completely different animal). Have you read the sticky threads 'PPC letters, what to expect' and 'welcome, please read before posting'. Watch the Watchdog link on there too.

It's just a scam like a phishing email series - just calm down and ignore them, it's reaslly easy and most of us have done it. Stop getting in such a tizz and start reading up on the scam, the letter-chains and Watchdog's solicitor's opinion. This is NO BIGGIE.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
