I normally have my free NHS flu jab, and so far have not had any bad reactions. To me it seems a sensible precaution, like an anti tetanus jab for instanceEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

When I was teaching I seemed to be immune to most of the flu germs the pupils brought into school! I only ever had proper flu twice in over 30 yrs teaching.
I have never had a flu jab.
Now I do voluntary work at CAB and am wondering if I am more vulnerable than in my teaching days. I can't decide whether to have the jab or not.0 -
Don't know why jamespir is surprised. Confusing manflu ( ie a cold) with the flu?
I've only had it twice.
Read a definition ; if there was a £20 on the window sill by your bed and about to blow away, you'd get it for a cold, leave it for the flu.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I do voluntary work for Age Concern, I look upon my flu jab as not just for me, but also for those I am in contact with, who may well be more vulnerable to flu than I amEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I have had my flu jab for the past 4 years since Chemo left me with an impaired immune system and therefore not a good idea to get flu at all I also have had my pneumonia jab as well a couple of years ago I will take anything if it stops me from either getting ill or passing it on to others.I had my flu jab on Monday and apart from a slightly sore arm I'm fine .No more than if someone had 'dead legged 'your arm Why not take whats on offer. The district nurse said that this years flu jabs had improved no end with 3 strains from Australia and an anti-swine flu jab combined from the US.For the sake of slight discomfort for a day or so it could save my life and the NHS a chunk of money from having to look after me in hospital so whats the problem Its a no brainer get the jab and be safe through the winter0
