Simple JSA Sanction Q please.

Hello Everyone.

I stupidly have recieved a Sanction of 2 weeks starting from the 1st of October to the 14th of October.

I signed on Friday 29th Sept and usually recieve my money Wednesday.

My Question is : Will I recieve no money this Wed? Or will I recieve money from the last 2 weeks? I heard payments are 2 weeks behind.

Also Whats happens after the 2 week sanction?

Thanks for all your help.

respect to you all.

from what you say i think you will get your money as normal on wednesday but in 2 weeks time you wont get anything. if you feel the sanction is wrong you can appeal by getting an appeal form. hardship isnt normally paid for the first 2 weeks but i believe if you have a health condition or kids you can still get it for the first 2 weeks. if this applies to you then apply for hardship payments which are 40% less.
after the sanction ends i believe it will automatically revert back to normal. also you should still continue to sign on as normal during the sanction period.

how does the reason for the sanction have anything to do with when they will get paid. if they signed on last friday then that was for the previous fortnight and the sanction does not start until after that. so they should still get paid for the period they signed for last friday.

Correct, sanctions usually start the first day of the benefit week following the day on which the decision is made to ensure there are no overpayments caused

Sorry but not necessarily true. The reason behind the sanction is crucial before further advise can be given

    Perhaps you could elaborate slightly?

Which sanction questions don't follow that rule of thumb?

Availability or actively seeking - payment suspended until decision made

Refusing employment or fail to attend - payments allowed until decision made

Neither of which are sanction questions and so don't attract a sanction

at which point the sanction is imposed from the first day of the benefit week following the day on which the decision is made.

Which bit of what I said was untrue again?
