Please Oracles of Great Wisdom help me. I have trawled sites and shops for the following. A sim only for £5 a month with 300 txts and little minute time. I saw the asda thing but I would like more texts.

I cant find anything. I need this for my daughter 13 as she travels to and from school alone. She doesnt need much call time as I can ring her back but having texts is impt, as I may be in a meeting when she needs to tell me she is in an after school club.

Have you looked at GiffGaff? Just got my son unlimited texts for £5 but they had 300 texts plus 60 minutes for £5 too.

The advantage of giffgaff is that you can have both the unlimited texts goodybag at £5 per month (as mentioned by bizzybee above) but also have some credit on the account which she can use for calls at 10p per minute. This credit doesn't expire after a month, it's just like payg.

You can also switch between goodybags i.e you can have unlimited texts one month, then the 300 texts + 60 mins goodybag the next month. If you don't renew then you just automatically drop back to standard payg where rates are 10p/min for calls and 6p per text.

The rates I quote are effective from 6th October.

Giffgaff use the O2 network so you may need to unlock the phone.

If you are sure you want to go down the monthly billed route, Vectone do 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 100MB of data for £5/month.

Howver, Orange PAYG might be worth a quick heads up.
A £10 top up on dolphin or monkey provides 400 free texts as a top up reward for 30 days. This does not use any of the credit. £10 remains on the phone. After the 30 days runs out, using the phone credit buy a £5 unlimited text extra - providing unlimited texts for the next 30 days.
Using this method, a £10 top up every two months - so the same as £5 per month - provides at least 400 texts each month and £5 extra credit to be used if required (which would be enough for 25 minutes of calls if needed). Also no risk of unintentionally running up a big bill. You can always add a top up yourself from the orange website if she needs it.
