buymobilephones

Options
Earlier this year (Feb) I took out a contract with buymobilephones.net paying £30 a month for a motorola on the 3 network. It was for the usual offer of cashback (£300 = 10 months free line rental) once you sent back the first 4 bills.
I sent back the bills registered post and Buymobilephones.net confirmed they had received them and that my cheque would be on its way. "Your papers are with the accountant, you will get paid, but we have a long backlog," is what I was told in June and July.
Starting to get a bit concerned now....Has anyone on here actually had any cashback from buymobilephones or is anyone else still waiting??
I was surprised that, unlike other offers, they didn't make you to wait till month 10 to send back the bills but seemed to be offering to payback after month 4....maybe that's what the hold up is....
Would be interested to hear other people's experiences...

    Hi Andy,

I haven't dealt with them. I was just about to buy a phone from them on a similar deal to you. I hadn't used them before so was looking for reviews and found yours.

I guess if you bought the phone in Feb your first cashback claim was end of May (correct?). I've dealt with onestopphoneshop before and they wait 30 days from cashback claim to send payment, i wonder if buymobilephones do as well. If this is the case then you should have had payment by early July.

They state they're part of a well known high street retailer but i'm not sure which one. Do you know which it is ?

If i were you i'd contact them and threaten to report them to trading standards and see what they say.

I'd like to know what response you get or if you've received your cashback since you've made the above post. I think i'll hold fire on my order until i see what response you get.

    cheers

    Hi Andy,

Just noticed my calculation was wrong, your first claim will have been end of June so 30 days would mean early August. Saying that they state to wait 56 days! before contacting them, that would make it back end of August (still late in my opnion).

    See end of Section 16:

"Please submit copies of your mobile phone bill/statement to:
    Rebates Department BuyMobilePhones.net
Contract House, Turnpike Business Park, Alfreton, Derbyshire. DE55 7DR

Your claim will be processed once the relevant statements have been received. Should you not receive communication from us within 56 days of sending the statements, contact customer services at sales@buymobilephones.net."

Section 12 deals with complaints so i'd go via this channel if i were you.

    "12. Complaints

12.1. If you have cause for complaint regarding any service or product provided by BuyMobilePhones.net please email full details for the attention of the Duty Manager to enquiries@buymobilephones.net.

12.2. We endeavour to respond to all complaints within two working days and aim to resolve any problems as soon as we can after receiving details of a complaint."

Let me know how you get on.
    Best of luck.

  • Hi MrLew

well having now been paid out (more or less) i'd pretty much recommend buymobilephones.net.

    the short version...
    * they do pay out (albeit with discrepency over figures - see below),
    * they pay out quicker than most (after 6 months),
    * unlike many others you only have to send in ONE cashback claim
    * they are reasonably good at answering queries.

    The long version......

well can report that i did get some money back...but not sure if they left me a couple of quid short or not.
They promise 10 months line rental back which, for my deal, should be either 10 x £25 (before VAT) or 10 x £30 (incl VAT).

I wasn't sure whether they'd include VAT on the cashback or not but I got got a cheque for £270 which is somewhere in between.......

    The receipt on it said i'd been given 10 x £22.9 plus £40 VAT - hence £270.
Since they have included VAT in the cashback I think they still owe me £30. The woman who does the refunds is away on holiday so am waiting for her to get back to me....

Having said even if it's £30 short i still think this deal is OK. Especially as they pay out so early and you only have to send in one cashback form. I've done this before with onestopphoneshop but had to send in three sets of claims which was a bit of a pain and didn't get all the cashback till the end of the contract.

I did have to phone buymobile a couple of times to chivvy them along (hadn't noticed the 56-day waiting period) but they seemed fairly helpful. When i first called (July) they confirmed they'd received my documents and said I would get paid but it would take a while as they had a back-log.... I called a couple more times...on the last occasion the finance woman said she'd just seen my paperwork on her desk and would get it in the post that night - which she did...am only sorry i didn't go over the figures with her.

Considering my average bill is rarely more than £30, then all my bills up to now have been paid by the cashback and i've still got a few quid left over.

If I can squeeze another £30 out of them then so much the better but as i say i think it's still a pretty good deal for 600 xnet minutes and more texts than I can cope with each month.

Yes it's on 3 but living in south wales i've found the reception for 3 is good and i've had few problems - it's certainly better than Orange was.

The only downside is the actual phone...Motorola C975 - which has lots of gizmos (inc good camera) but is like lugging housebrick around with me and certainly gets lots of laughs from my mates. At least no-one's tried to nick it yet (probably haven't got the strength) but am looking round now for a different phone to use up the rest of the contract.

Unless I can find a better deal I'll be going back to buymobile next feb when contract is up...they've certainly got some good deals going at the moment...they just need to sort out their cashback payments...

    Hope that helps

I checked out their T&C's and they say:-

Line rental refunds and text pack/bundle refunds and cash backs will be paid in three equal parts on month four, month eight and month twelve of your contract.

    Who is right? ;)

very tempted with one of their offers too :)

    Cheers, Des.

Yeh it does say that....all i can say is i on the paperwork they sent me i only had to send off first 4 bills and had cashback cheque after 6 months. Maybe they've changed the deal.... can only advise you call them up on the freephone number and ask em....

  • Hi i recently placed an order with this company and a day after i ordered they emailed to say that a security deposit of £50 will be needed.

I asked them why is this and they have basically lied and given me several different stories.

First they told me that O2 have asked for the deposit and that it will be refunded by O2 after 12 months.

I called O2 about this and they have said this is false and that it is the company who normally asks for the deposit

Then i spoke to a manager the day after who i told that O2 have no record of this and she said ACTUALLy it is buymobilephones.net that have asked for the security deposit and that it will be refunded after 3 months and not 12

Lastly they have said cashback will be given at month 4,8,12. But due to this recent encounter i will be surprise if they do give it back

SO Basically the people working at buymobilephones.net have been lying and giving several different stories

I have now cancelled due to their dishonesty

Future buyers should beware of this company..... buy at your own risk!!!!
