Indeed. BT Openreach tell me that they are not "customer facing", which is a nonsense. No customers = no business. BT still behave as if they are a state monopoly. Break it up.

Indeed? Do you know why BT was forced by Ofcom to create Openreach, and what Openreach's relationship with BT retail customers is? The whole slightly mad scheme was devised by Ofcom to prevent BT from behaving as if it were a state monopoly.

BT Openreach ARE customer-facing. It's just that their customers are ISPs and Telcos, not consumers. ;)

BT Retail's relationship to BT Openreach is the same as any other ISP's-entirely separate.

Complaints against Openreach CAN be done via BT ceo office. Customer facing - NO, CEO facing - ENTIRELY ;)

  • Update.....having got so P'd off with BT i've signed up with PlusNet. Like people said, they may not improve the line speed - in fact i doubt anything will change - at least it's cheaper (£15 for broadband & line rental & weekend calls etc)...so thats all good.

PlusNet's customer service so far is the opposite to BT's....they actually seem helpful!

When i pointed out the speed issues to them, they looked up details on the exchange i use and found that from 1 Dec I should be able to get fibre if I wanted...so performance should rocket then!!

    ---

I then got a call back from BT yesterday....asking if the offshore team had got back to me, if the problem was resolved etc. The poor bloke on the phone wasnt expecting the earfull he got back!!!

I asked him about fibre - he agreed that from 1 Dec it's possible, so i suggested that they should have found that out first when I rang to complain about the speed...and could have turned a problem into an actual sale and tied me into another 12+ months contract!!!! And obviously i told him i'm moving provider and to not bother calling back...
