Typically premiums will go up when someone passes their driving test as they no longer have a "responsible & experienced driver" having to over see them
Well poo. lol. Might go get a quote to find out how much it's likely to go up by.
I hate cars some times. lol.

*phew* not as bad as I thought. Based on the online quote it would only go up by about £100 so about £6 a month. Not bad at all! Feel much better now. lol. But saying that they've always managed to make it cheaper whenever I've called them so it probably wouldn't even go up by that much!

Hiya,
I was trying to figure this one out today. My DH has been driving forever and I've only been driving for nearly 3 years. We're going down to one car this week and realised that it would be £160 cheaper if he was the named driver. I phoned my insurer (Swift) and he was lovely, we figured this out...
As I have 6 months left on my insurance I'll lose this years no claims if I cancel. So I should stay as the policy holder with my partner as the named driver and just change the car details. At a cost of £160... shudder...
Then in six months I don't renew and my partner becomes the policy holder.
Then after a year we switch and I am the policy holder. Each time we switch can be with whoever is the best insurer at the time.
After I have built up about 5 years of no claims, and added years on to my driving experience, then it wouldn't really matter about doing it every year, just every couple of years so we both don't lose out on our no claims.
Can anyone see any problem with this?
thank you!0 -
My understanding is that the policy holder should be the main driver, ie the one doing the most driving mileage in the year, so switching back & forth every year/couple of years may not be an option.0

Being totally honest, we will both be using the car pretty much 50/50.0
