  • Nicki re the front door - I have used a normal curtain rail thing attached to a front door before (one at top and another at the bottom to attach it to so it opens with the door IYSWIM).

    Something like this UiSiTiySCbSNRr8fFn8sCB_sGXRut8ERgx7OilCVeH7j9JlKVsD0hDHLEKRoVMB14XFhp2wOlqi75yqo0FOJG1OBPRbEr0e0pcXP_5oSJe8mEPqF5A9RIqYw68uzvidKVqXF3BL2ZbMZNxfdeg9Obyp-jKcFPSvVmyVkhtTfuqShpu3gsJ1B6QjM5g

Not ideal but would certainly take a heavier curtain than what you've got up.

There's a very funny double slanket reduced to £4 on Asda direct http://direct.asda.com/george/womens-nightwear/valentines-double-slanket/GEM148178,default,pd.html, and also some rather strange reductions which aren't marked up as sale, but these are generally on summer clothes. (eg this dress is £4 - http://direct.asda.com/george/womens/dresses/chevron-print-shirt-dress/GEM259720,default,pd.html )
If you see enough to spend £30 there is a code on the front page for £5 off. Collect in store is free.

annie I have just read through the link you posted and love the cardboard shutters. I am going to use them in my bathrooms. The windows are small so it should be easier to find card to fit. If we put bubble wrap on first then the cardboard shutters, with the porch doors repaired (the bathrooms are on ground floor with a porch outside) we should have cosy bathrooms.
I made cardboard shutters for someone last year and we even made them so they opened and closed using bits of string and drawing pins. She was on the sea front and the winds were bitter and they helped alot.

That is a lot of fleece fabric for the price if anyone needs to line curtains, door curtains, cot throws etc.
Arms cut off could be used as sausages for doors or to hold curtains on window ledges to stop drafts coming through, or deep neck scarf.

Thanks for the info on the double slanket, I have ordered one to collect as its worth it for the material alone as you say annie, broke at the moment so hoping they might have some more when I am in funds again:)

I bought a sewing pattern for making myself fleecy pjs and I think this will be enough material for them.

The first floor bathroom was always warm as it has no window and has the hot water tank in there. Since we fitted the extractor fan the bathroooms has been wuite chilly. Does anyone else have this problem and have any ideas of how to counteract it?

Cardboard Shutters? Do tell me more please!

    Sounds like an awesome idea.
