Window day is here! Work in progress and more mess than appreciated. So hope I like them!

Condensation ventilation is key, you need to open the windows daily, this will help but not solve.

Morning all. I love this thread & have picked up some really useful tips & ideas. Try to join in but am still quite new but pass on anything I think may be useful.

Need a bit of help today if at all possible please. Seeing the snow
America on the news this morning :eek::eek: has reminded me I need to "invest" in a snow shovel as I really struggled last year & they had all sold out so going to little ironmongers today to get one. Also reminded me I should get some wind-up torches (have a big battery one but not very mse buying MAAAAASSSSIVVEE batteries). Everyone on here seems very knowledgeable about these so any tips?

    Thanks.

I was watching the snow in America on the news this morning  We usually get it a couple of weeks after they get hit on the east coast.

We have everything ready but last year we could not even get out of the doors to the shed/garage so I must put everything in reach. We have decking with a roof on that can be accessed from the conservatory so when the halloween decs are all taken down I will be moving the snow shovels, wellies, grit etc there for easy reach! It's no good having things if I can't get to them :rotfl:
  • Just bought DD (5) a hooded/footed fleece zip all in one thing for bedtimes in Matalan online... its been out of stock and now back in only 7.00 :-)

My problem is that I've got stacks of scrap paper that I've saved, but now I write my notes on my phone, and don't know what to do with all this paper that I've saved over the years.

The kids have pads that a local school was throwing out 5 years ago, and we still have enough to last a few years.

I do most things digitally, so spare paper is only fit for recycling for me now.

I don't have a fire, so I can't make bricks out of them either.
what about a local nursery or a child minder - i am sure they would love scrap paper if its suitable to give away. or do you have any friends or neighbours who could use it on their fire?

nicepeach I got my snow shovel from asda £8 and you can also get them from amazon - again look on-line at ebay for wind-up torches or any outdoor clothing store will have them
    Peace will be mine

Two of my team are without power in the US. One was emailing me from her car where she had gone to get warm.

Dusty - try not to let the mess get to you. I've already had to tell the decorator to put down dust sheets for the dust, not just when he's painting. I pointed out that I don't have time to spend clearing up after him (and no, he can't use my hoover for plaster dust) so I'd appreciate him using the dust sheets i've provided. Next I need to deal with telling him how I want the painting done (overlapping the ceiling and wall so there is no chance of a gap.

Katiepillow I have a dehumidifier in my bedroom and wouldn't be without it. I put it on for a couple of hours most days and it keeps the damp at bay.

bought ds a coat in the M&S 20% event at the weekend - its the first time we agreed on a waterproof warm coat in years! He has waterproof and he has warm but not one that does both til now! He's even agreed to and found some snow boots he deems acceptable!

    Hi Dusty xx
the mess will be worth it - I am sure you will be thrilled when its all finished - in the meantime just do whats essential - if they are a good firm they will clean up behind themselves - maybe not to flylady standards though:D:rotfl:

its milder here today just as well as the heating is still not working - it has motivated me into dealing with the spare room so I am quite warm:rotfl:

  • I have just ordered a snow shovel - up till now used an ordinary one, but thought buy it while I can afford it, also have bought traction wheel grips and tyre grip black ice protections spray, not OS but I feel for my hubby very useful and cheaper in the long run than an accident or being stuck somewhere - I did write a big long email explaining my reasoning but no one would want to hear it, so just put it here in case these are useful to anyone else.

What traction wheel grips did you get and were they expensive? I have been thinking of getting some too...

Has anybody heard from Kmiller? She is in NY isn't she? Or nearby... I hope she is ok... When she gets back online she will probably have a few stories to tell - at least her and her hubby will be well fed on oatmeal :D
