Meggsy, did you challenge them, once you'd qualified for the discount and ask for it to be paid?

It's my understanding that in the first year, the discount is already factored into the dd (presumably to make it more attractive to new customers), but subsequently it's payable after the qualifying period. Is that correct?

If this is the case then, yes, they are taking an additional £8 odd per month to cover this. However in my particular instance, in recalculating, they appear, at time of writing, to have overlooked taking into account my £165 debit balance, when recalculating the new dd ;). If this remains the case, plus as we are moving into winter, then I think in terms of keeping the money in my bank account or theirs, I will be ahead! Need to wait for written confirmation from them to be sure, in case they are going to ask for debit balance to be paid off first (this has not been mentioned on phone or in their email) so will wait to check that before deciding what to do!

Yes I asked for the discounts to be credited to my accounts in 09 and 10, they rebilled both times in April to replace March bills. After March 10 bill they arrived June 10, December 10 with the discount credited on the June 11 bill, but a delay of 3 months as they didn't bill in March! I've always had the DD reset as well so that when I left recently there was only a £70 debit.

I believe the discount is factored in so they always appear at or near the top of the comparison sites, but not entirely sure. You seem to be on to a winner now though ;) It's just annoying having to spend so much time righting wrongs nowadays

They refer to the Ofgem Report on here but the links aren't working for me ...

I see Jon was billed at 11 months to avoid crediting the discount to his account on anniversary date. I've been billed one day early for the same reason ..

Noticed this on twitter, haven't had time to view it properly but they are now offering the option of quarterly billing as well as 6 monthly, which I hated, but it won't lure me back ;)
