It is THEIR responsibility to ask me for it back.
Actually it isn't their responsibility, once you become aware of the fact it becomes your responsibility. If you are aware of a wrongful credit to your account and take no steps to bring it to their attention or pay it back then you are committing a criminal offence under the Theft Act. While it is probably unlikely that the bank would report you for an offence, just be careful.
The Theft Act states....
Dishonestly retaining a wrongful credit.(1) A person is guilty of an offence if –(a) a wrongful credit has been made to an account kept by him or in respect of which he has any right or interest;
(b) he knows or believes that the credit is wrongful; and
(c) he dishonestly fails to take such steps as are reasonable in the circumstances to secure that the credit is cancelled.
Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............0 -
            Well done on your success!:beer:
I would let them know, better this way, they will go through the systems in time and come across this error.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

            I would let them know
Maybe an email.
I had this where an ex-employee paid me after I had left. I called them on two occasions and emailed them. When I heard nothing back I then waited for them to call me. When they sent me a snotty letter I sent them details of the contact I had made to them - they couldn't say much then. I then repaid the money back - they were so incompentent that about a month later they chased me again and i sent them a copy of my statement showing the payment.
Rise above the crooks that are the banks and be a better person than they wereTwenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
