Washing hair

i've never really thought about this really, we've always had a bath (and in our last 2 houses showers aswell) we always bath the kids together and just use jugs i don't pour extra water over them tho once the soap is gone that it after all it's clean water in the bath and your putting shampoo/conditioner in your hair anyway so it's not completely clean and free of residue anyway, i always get a shower now because the boiler in this house isn't big enough for me to have a bath
but i just lean back then do shampoo lean back to rinse repeat and do the same for conditioner

Thanks guys! Given me some ideas.
Jayjay14, I suspected as much! I looked in a cupboard and what I think is the immersion tank is right next to the bath, on the same level. The water mixes fine in the tap, but has problems mixing the water as soon as a pipe is attached, and the whole thing is !!!!!!ed when I lift the shower head any higher than the taps.
I was planning on joining the gym anyway because I like working out, going to the classes and swimming and it's across the road so very convenient.Should help to keep our bills down.
Opening hours are pretty good but obviously there will be times at the weekend I'll need to wash. Lol.
Aaah. I didn't realise the bubble bath I went and bought (figured if we have a bath might as well make it nice and relaxing!) is making my hair worse :P Will consider that only for hair-off days or switch around what I do first.
Re: shaving in general - not fussed about the "hairy tide" (lol), more fussed about sitting in a vat of hairy water... will have to look at a good way of rinsing off using a jug. I do use an epilator as well sometimes but the method still means I need to find a way that I'm not sitting in hair.
Re: dry shampoo, I'm actually allergic to regular shampoo so have to be really careful with this stuff. I have tried some and really didn't get on with any (including Baptiste).
Re: Conditioner... with my scalp problems (it cracks and bleeds when in contact with most regular shampoos) I can't get it anywhere near my scalp. I use leave in conditioner already on top of the normal conditioner because my skin, scalp and hair veer towards dry anyway.
I know it sounds awkward - usually I'm happy to have a thick head of (slightly dry and frizzy) asian hair but it makes for a stupidly long washing routine. Of course my skinhead hair-less boyfriend doesn't see the problem with bathing.0 -

You can still get those rubber attaching shower heads for bath taps....we have one, tbh though I really dislike it so I use a jug....I don't leave the taps running I lean forward and turn them on and off each time. I do the first rinse in my bathwater though...presuming I've not been too grubby and I don't have any thing scented/soapy in the bath at that stage.
I tend to get in, do hair, leave conditioner in, (which I rinse by jug) wash my self, shave legs, rinse hair with jug, in that sort of order.
I have really long hair too, but not very thick.
It's not possibleThe building is listed (it's 325 years old) and basically whoever did the plumbing didn't have a fking clue because it's a system fault, the heater isn't above the bath, it's on the same level, which means there's no pressure. Which means water doesn't flow through showerhead attachments.
So, unless I rip all the pipes out and buy a new tank and do lots of drilling and sawing to get the pipes through to the loft, it ain't happening.
Thanks for the method - another one to try0 -
We only had a bath when I was young, no shower (or shower attachment). We would wash hair first in bath with nothing added except water and rinse with a jug. We were then allowed to add some bubbly stuff sometimes after hair was rinsed but hair had to be kept up out of the bubbles. I had long curly hair as a child and it seemed to work fine that way

I wash mine in the bath (before using any soap) and just rinse it by submerging my head, I've never noticed any ill effects by not rinsing with fresh water.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

it IS posible, the things you attach to your taps don't depend on plumbing at all. They are for just this sort of situation. I don't think you understand the basis piece of equipment I refer to.
we have one, the new part of the house in 1740s and the bathroom is in the old bit....ALL the plumbing came later than that though:rotfl: but our plumbing is also pants.

The simple solution is to shave your legs at the end of your bath and just get out of the hairy water. I shave in the bath and had never thought of rinsing my legs apart from just dunking them under the water when finished.0 -
Re the hairy tide, when shaving legs in bath, I wait till end of bath and sit on the side with my feet in the water and shave then. With my towelling dressing gown on so my top half starts getting dry. It's a lot easier to reach all the fiddly bits that way too (for me).Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

We have one of these - the electric shower in our rental is worse than useless (cold and dribbly) so we bought one of the rubber hoses and use it as our main shower, and it owrks really well. The pipes tend to be quite small, so even if your water pressure is rubbish you do get a reasonable shower.0 -
Up until I moved house 2/3 years ago I used to always wash my hair with a jug, I'd say that's the way forward! I always thought it was the norm to shave in a bath too. Just do that right at the end!0
