I can't be doing with couriers. My business is of the 'run itself' variety so I rarely ever stay at home all day and could never guarantee to be here for collection.

Free listing tomorrow- so what on earth do I have that is heavy that I can list?

that's the thing people moan about royal mail and parcelforce but in reality they provide a good consistent service. Parcelforce though technically a courier provide a lot of the advantages that RM do. Getting stuff re delivered is easy and doesn't cost, like some other couriers do. I've tried some resellers before and it has been more trouble than its worth causing more problems for both me and my customers. I'd rather earn a wee bit less profit and provide a better service and get customers to return. Cheapest is not always best.

There are better rates for couriers if you use them regularly or via third parties, however the Parcelforce rate on Paypal covers the whole of the UK. When we had a Parcelforce contract the high volume rate we had was still more to send to Scottish highland and Northern Ireland than the Paypal rate.

Re the not wanting to wait in all day for couriers, the Parcelforce label can be printed on your own printer and parcels can be dropped off at a Parcelforce depot and certain Post Offices.

My parcelforce office is about 2 minutes further on from the Mail centre that accepts my normal post. So today it is a free listing day- there is a cheap heavy postal rate and I still can't find anything heavy enough to bother with. All my [STRIKE]rubbish[/STRIKE] oops- collectable personal items are light.

I have in the past asked sellers who are on a PF contract to send normally to keep the rate the same they have normally been happy to. As I live in such a remote area I buy a lot mail order from ebay and a lot of other places as do most people who live here.

You get pretty savvy on postage prices etc and what to avoid. I think a lot of sellers are shooting themselves in the foot not considering outlying areas as the Popullation of NI and the Highlands and Islands is around the 7 million mark thats quite a few customers.

Up to 30kg for 11.99 is not expensive. For those of us who l live in areas where couriers want a kidney to deliver parcelforce is the best option. Also buyers like myself avoid listings with other couriers for the same reason.

Can you go into Paypal to get these parcel rates for any item or is it limited to Ebay sales? That is a good price for the Highlands and NI.
