[QUOTE=nannytone;4731030sickness and disability benefits are paid for the effects the condition has on the individuals life and not on the diagnosis.[/QUOTE]
So the effect the condition ( Cancer ) has on individuals life and not being diagnosed with it???????????????0 -
I could quit work and claim ESA tomorrow, i currently get highest rates of DLA and work part time. The WCA is subjective I think, no one is saying that people with these conditions shouldn't work just that they need more support in working.
I'm sticking to work for now but if I don't get the hang of this oxygen malarkey then I might take a leave of absence.0 -
I love how everyone hypes up cancer. The only automatic conditions are those that are terminal within 6 months, physically having limbs missing, being registered blind or being deaf blind.0

yes, as Jen just pointed out, if it's terminal then it is treated differently. So the effect the condition ( Cancer ) has on individuals life and not being diagnosed with it???????????????
i had cancer ... so by your reaconing i should be automatically entitled to benefit?
it was a cancerous mole...was cut out and no further treatment was required ... so although the diagnosis was cancer it had no effect on my life apart from a sticking plaster!0 -
about the being blind thing jen ... yes it's an automatic pass to low rate DLA, but it's no longer automatically 15 points for ESA0

No I am not saying you should be automatically entitled to benefits when diagnosed with cancer.
If you re-read my OP you will see that I have been suffering from anxiety, depression etc., since a diagnosis of cancer.....it is the anxiety and depression I am refering to ....in MY case this was brought on by my cancer diagnoses...unfortuatly I couldn't stick a plaster on mine!!
My point was that I seem to be reading of alot of people trying to/able to claim benefits for anxiety and depression......and yes I do know there are varying degess of these.0 -

So you have proven that people with more severe mental health conditions can claim benefits? I'm not sure that was ever in doubt!0 -
No...I've proved that with the right medication I can continue to live a normlish life...without these meds., I would not be able to.
How do you know mine are less severe?.....as I have stated without medication I could not live even a normalish life............maybe there are others on the same level as me ( infact I know a few who are )...who maybe if they got the right medication etc., would be able to hold down a job of some description too.
'' I love how everyone hypes up cancer. The only automatic conditions are those that are terminal within 6 months, physically having limbs missing, being registered blind or being deaf blind ''
I think you will find that ''The only automatic conditons are those that are terminal within 6 minths''...is actually out of date now!!
Plus I didn't see anyone ''hyping up cancer ''.....and I agee with all the other conditions you stated as being automatic conditions!!!!!!!!!0 -
We do not know your personal condition. Why don't you speak to your Doctor and Consultant, if they suggest that giving up work will help you and back this up, I don't see what you have to lose by applying?0
