producing documents-police

son been pulled over by police for minor traffic offence. Police have instructed him to produce documents. This is fine however, I have sent his driving licence off to the dvla to get lgv provisional put on this. I only sent this off the other day so very unlikely to get the licence back before the 7 day deadline. My son explained to the police officer that he has MOT and log boo, but not his driving licence. The police officer replied 'not bothered, produce them or get prosicuted'. So what is the situation here?

Just tell him to go and produce the documents he has, He then then be cautioned and need to make a statement
where he just needs to say the licence has not arrived back from the DVLA.

They will look into it and as long as its true no further action will be taken. Had a similar issue many years ago.

Strange why they want to see the documents these days, A few clicks on a computer will tell them a lot more than those
    documents will show.

I thought that too, producers arent normal these days, even when he does take the docs in the police could still check that he has a valid one in secons.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Given that everything can now be checked on one database or another giving people “producers” is just done for the aggravation factor as can be seen by the police officers comment.

You’ve got nothing to worry about, get your offspring to turn up at the appointed police station with the documents he does have and explain why he doesn’t have his licence. Best that can happen is they will check it on the computer and send him on his way, worse is they will give him the “you are not obliged etc” speech to which he should politely respond with the reason he doesn’t have his licence with him. Either way, nothing bad will come of it.

They'll give him a 7 day extension, unless he sees a nob'ead like the one that pulled him.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

thanks for all that, in my other threads you will note why i have sent off for his hgv. Suprisingly i received an email about the lgv and army from the Daily Mirror, a snooper on here i guess looking for stories. Any how, son in army and just come home for weekend so has to travel back down south to the police station where he lives. Also whats with the police these days? Just the other day i was walking to my mothers with the misses, a police car was parked down the road with 2 officers in. We were doing nothing and they drove up to us and looked at me as if i was a piece of !!!!!. They moved the car to a position where i nearly walked into it. Im 42 never been in trouble in all my life, even helped the coppers when they bring drunks or undisirables into casualty. Its just strange how when thry have f all to do they go looking for 5 foot 7 inch blokes to see if they can get a reaction that may get them an arrest. I dont know whats happening to this country!

Why does he have to do that? Why didn't he nominate a station of his choice?
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

They cannot give an extension when the docs are produced.

If he nominates a station he is not bound to take the docs into that particular station. He can take them into any police station.
