Dreams of owning a house shattered?

Plots are cheap when there is almost NO chance of acquiring planning permission. You would end up in a Dale Farm situation.,
Our friends did this, bought a cheap plot, rented out their house, lived in a static, small wind turbine, eco loo, planted fruit trees, got piglets etc. They used 'grey' water for washing and doused for fresh water.
They applied for permission to build one straw eco house on their acres, refused, appealed, refused. They were evicted after 18 nmths, they gave up their eco dream and went home.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

Well, that's great. Thanks for the wealth of information. Remind me to not bother with this site again.0

If you only have 5K in savings anyway, how is it a problem? Just don't save any more and then you won't go over the 6K threshold, so your benefit entitlement won't change.0

So when are you guys planning on going back to work? Surely if you can live in a caravan with no utilities (so hauling around water supplies, sanitation equipment and gas canisters is pretty intense?) you're fit for some work?0
