Getting out and meeting people is really important for me at the moment - I'm sick of being single - but it's quite a good challenge to do it without spending too much cash!
Have you read the book about the woman who lived on £1 a day after she had paid rent and bills? explains what she did to keep herself entertained, etc.0 -

It is by Kath Kelly. I borrowed my copy from the library. It was interesting reading, although I couldn't have managed everything she did for free, because am restricted where I live, still gives you food for thought.0 -
YES!!!! I have that book! I love it!
I looked for free events in my area but there aren't that many! No interesting lectures and stuff....
But actually some nights out don't cost a fortune. For example, I went to the pub on Monday with an old friend and it was 90p a round! Neither of us could drink as we were driving and we had lime and soda - I chose it cos I like it not cos it's cheap! But 90p ... honestly!
And some nights I go to a dance class - Ceroc or salsa. Usually a fiver or £7 at most and the cost of a pint of lime and soda to keep me going! Tonight I'm trying an Intervarsity Club new members night ... free to attend and I'll drink....well, you guessed probably!!!
And last week had a day out at Ikea with a friend. Free tea and coffee (with a FamilyCard), 99p breakfasts and lots of stuff to keep her two kids entertained!
And right now, I should be working. I have the chance of free publicity tomorrow so I need to get a video edited in time!0 -
Doingitanyway, where have you disappeared to?!!! What are you up to?
Update us all please!0 -
Welcome back!
I'm curious - what creative industry are you in and what is the course? Would love to know more!
Frugal dating is well ... a bit pants! I'm on the internet dating thread on this forum and wrote on there how the guy I went on with on Tuesday night (from Match.com) left his wallet in the car. So I had to pay! Nice one! Full account on my blog if anyone's interested - I think you can see the web address on my profile.
Have another date on Wednesday with a guy who seems really nice and I have a bit of paid work. Not much but there are couple of other possibilities when this finishes. It was nice being able to sign off, even if I have to sign back on again!
Grocery shopping is working out great - my housemate is doing it all and I'm paying half. It's cut my supermarket bills right down. He seems to be able to buy much more food for the money than me. Not quite sure how. I haven't been in a supermarket for a few weeks now and I'm considerably better off as a result, even though I'm giving him half of whatever he spends. Perhasp I should hire him out! He also cleans and irons....!0 -
Sounds as though things are going well on the creative front.
I'll look forward to your return - but hope you can get online to read if not to post at some point - it helps one to keep on the right track!
I've never done sweet potatoes in the slow cooker but I bet they just melt... with butter... oooh!Miggy

Lots happening then! Good to hear so many pieces of positive news.
to the court order and mortgage payment. I hope you manage the magic and find a way to pay. Paid work would be useful but jobs are thinner on the ground than they were. Is there anything seasonal?
Hope things go well for your Mum.Miggy

Still desperately curious about what your creative business is and what the course is! If you don't want to say publicly, please PM me!
Thanks for the compliment about the blog - are you referring to my singles blog? I have three!
I haven't got anywhere job wise and I am almost at the end of my to do list. One video to edit for a charity and a wall that my lovely housemate would like stripping of wallpaper and that's it. I have never, ever not had things on my to do list and the idea of all day every day at home with nothing to do - I'm pretty good at being alone but the endless stretch of it with no actual purpose is scary!

Hi doingitanyway
they won't remove the court costs. And I think you will find the court costs are only about £25, the rest is council costs! Having stupidly been in arrears instead of sticking to agreement to pay x amount I found out the hard way!
call them up, explain your income situation, ask if you can pay £5 a week until you are in a position to pay more. They may say yes, they may say no, But don't leave it any longer and don't put on CC!!!
Call them and ask for a payment plan and you need to stick to it. If you don't, more court costs and council costs and bailiffs turning up at your door. Been there, done that.0
