At the end of the day there has to be people at the lowest common denominator (whatever the benchmark of that is) - all jobs have a monetary value. We can't all be nuclear physicists or financial experts.
To the point someone made of table waiters in Europe, have you ever lived in Continental Europe? Yes they may earn more on the face value but rent, taxes and cost of living is in general significantly higher, so in real terms they are probably identical.
An ex colleague of mine is from Norway and years ago whilst at University he used to earn the equivalent of £25k working shifts in a supermarket.0 -
