Using Inclusive Texts to Text a USA Mobile

Hi, my wife is on 3 and has inclusive texts on her contract. I occasionally go to the States on business and whilst there use a US mobile. If my wife texts this mobile from the UK it costs her 21p a text. Is there anyway she can text my US mobile from her 3 mobile and use her inclusive minutes? We do use WhatsApp and internet texting but these are not always available.

She can text for free to your UK mobile and it will be free for you to receive the texts.

Yes, we have tried this but my UK mobile is with Orange and they charge to receive texts whilst roaming.

No carrier, except the US carriers charge to receive txts while roaming. And even for the US carriers, if you have a txt plan (which majority of the people do) incoming txts are deducted from your txt plan. So, you should be able to receive txts, while roaming, on your UK mobile for free while in the US. However, that means you either have to carry another mobile just for that purpose, or keep switching between your UK sim and your US sim.

If your partner has a suitable telephone, she can use the FishText service. 1.33p per text message to a USA mobile.
It's free to test as they give you a 20p credit with which to begin.

Yeah. Good one there. That's what I use for sending txt when I travel internationally.

OK. Thanks for all that, we'll try the 2 mobile option. Often use WhatsApp if there's wifi around.

Rebtel is a good option for calls and texts - uses local numbers.
Texting using local numbers available in US only.
