Help get my printer to work please

Hi Hope i've posted this in the right place sorry if I havn't I can't get my printer to print It's connected via usb but when I go to print nothing happens It's on and working, did a test sheet on the printer itself I'm at a total lost and need to print something asap Any ideas from thous with the knowhow Thanks Jane
