how do I check my water bill is right??

I have been looking through this forum and been on U Switch but still confused, hope people can give me a bit of advice. I live in a three bed semi with my partner. Our Water bill is £53per month. I think this is a bit excessive as when we were renting a couple of years ago we only paid £22per month. I am aware the house is slightly bigger surely this doesnt count for the price hike. How do I check my water metre or do I have to have one put in?

If you dont have a water meter the water bills are related to the rateable value of the house - check your bills for this value.
If you do have a water meter then its simply a matter of recording your consumption and doing the maths.

You might be better off with a meter we are quite lucky as i live in knowsley but i am a street away from liverpool border and mine is £28 per month, were as my mil is nearer to your bill she is liverpool.As theres only the two of them in her house shes got a water meter and hers is now lower than mine.I thought it went on councils but im not an expert but mine and mil house both have the same amount of rooms but i have an extra bathroom.

If you are on RV billing then the size of the property has no relation to the billing.
If you are metered then check the meter reading against the billed amount.
