I am no expert, but I think that like for any Android installing a custom ROM (OS) de-brands a phone.
Alternatively google for 'Samsung i5500 Europa debranding'0 -

Probably worth stating that to do so will most likely void the warranty on the phone. Shouldn't as it's only software but the network will usually refuse to fix it if it's not their software version.0 -
Why? It doesn't affect the use of the handset, and all other operaters have their own 'advert/branding' unless the firmware is generic. If you've never flashed a handset before, leave it until a new version is available, but certainly AFTER any Warranty has expired.0

I don't know but I know from experiance that when I flashed my SE X1 to get rid of the Vodafone Live junk with SE's own stock ROM (and not even a custom one) , when it went wrong 15 months later Vodafone refused to look at is saying it had been tampered with.
The fault was a blatent hardware fault and a common one on the phone (ribbon cable got rubbed and damaged as you flipped the keyboard out over time) but Vodafone would not budge.
SE didn't want to know stating as the handset was Vodafone branded (logo printed / engraved on the back) it was Vodafones to deal with. It was 2 months from the end of the contract, and as I complained to Vodafone they halved the line rental and I sold it to fonebank and used the cash to pay the last few months rental and give me some extra cash and got the current iPhone. Wife hated it and had already said she didn't want it when I changed phones so it wasn't worth the hassle.
Don't get me wrong I knew the risks when I flashed it and but it was a feeble excuse to not do a hardware repair due to "wrong" software versions.0 -
Thats usual that a seller with branded phone refuses to accept phone under warranty without their firmware . But Samsung will honour the warranty provided its on stock Samsung firmware and not a custom rom or rooted phone . Though Samsung repair in the UK is often CPW .
