If you've set up the transfer I don't see what else you can do... it's probably because there isn't a "live" person there to process it, so it's gone on the list for the morning. The only thing I can think of is cash but I think there's a £250 limit at an ATM. Still, if you live near to one it might be worth grabbing the cash so you at least have something. Plus, if they try and take a DD and the whole amount isn't there then it should get refused and that may buy you enough time to transfer the rest out. As for Wonga not having a DD, that doesn't bode well - could it be that you set up a (and I forget the real name due to having been awake since 0330) recurring charge on your debit card?
Good luck, let us know what happens

Thanks guys - I've been stressing all night and have a young baby so not much sleep at all....
I actually ended up reporting my card lost/stolen to see if that could stop them taking the money. I think Wonga charge it back to the card rather than by DD....I think Quick Quid do too but Im not 100% sure. The bank said my card would now be totally useless & nobody would be able to charge to it as it might be fraudulent use. I feel bad about being dishonest, but I didnt know what else to do. My limit at the cash point is about £300 and I need more than that to pay all my bills & get my self in order!
I've logged onto my bank account this morning and all my cash is still there. I will still leave the transfer to my partners account in place though, as I imagine they might try tomorrow or Monday to reclaim the money. So I guess I just have to keep an eye out for any direct debits being created on my account etc.
Should I go to them with my repayment offer now....or give it a few days?? If I tell them now that I definitely cant pay it back and want to do it in installments, they might be more active in terms of trying to simply take the cash before the transfer clears?0 -
Wonga have emailed me this today - so looks like cancelling the card helped. Although scary to read that they will keep trying throughout the day!

Please pay your Wonga loan today to avoid charges being added to your account
We have just tried to collect your promised repayment from your chosen debit card and, unfortunately, the payment was declined by your bank.
As our collection attempt was declined by your bank, a fee may be added to your balance. If we still haven`t received full repayment by 5pm today, you will incur a £20 missed payment fee towards the cost of a failed collection. You should also be aware that we will make further attempts to collect the money you owe us from your debit card, either in one payment or in several amounts, during the course of today and on a continuous basis until the amount you owe is repaid.
Remember that settling your balance in full before 5pm today will mean you avoid paying the missed payment fee and:
* You won`t accrue any further interest
* Your repayment will be reported to credit reference agencies in a positive way
* Your trust rating will be protected and you will be welcome to apply again in the future0 -
If it were me, I'd wait a few days, you are going to get a default anyway so make sure they don't get any money in the meantime before you set out your repayment plan.
Definitely sort out that different basic bank account too and advise your payroll department of the new account number asap. Do you know how long it takes them to sort out a change like that?
You should get your new account number straight away and can set up another transfer to that account. It might go instantly now its daytime?
Make sure the bank you use isn't affiliated with your current bank.December 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]

OK, just seen your subsequent post with their email. With that in mind I'd probably go ahead and contact them now with your repayment plan. They are trying to charge a cancelled card so they won't get your money.
(I should point out I've not had personal experience with payday loan companies, I'm just saying what I'd do if it were me).December 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]

okay, Im going to get in touch with them today and let them know. I have got a goot track record with them so maybe they will be kind (I live in hope!).
I've tried to complete the transfer again this morning but it still wont take effect until tomorrow. Its a bit annoying but thats Santander for you...
I will definitely get the other account opened today & let my payroll know. As long as I inform them before the 10th October then that will give them the time needed to set it all up for me.
