Sorry to be a pain again but I tried pretty early on for tickets for the Liverpool showing of this film but to late. Anyone who can't make it please pass them on.

I keep thinking about just turning up at the cinema on the off chance there will be spaces without a ticket. Has anyone ever tried this? If so what happend?

Also stil on the lookout for American Gangster tickets, if anyone has them.

Cheers and sorry to be a bore.

Could I please pass on a few words of advice:-
    1) Please "don't panic Mr Mannering" if your local cinema is not listed, or if they are "all gone" by the time you try to get them.
    2) SeeFilmFirst for example do not seem to release ALL the allocation of tickets in one go. So keep trying the codes, you may hit lucky and try when a new batch have been released - I don't know if this happens on a certain day of the week, or time of day/night- but I do know this has happened, because I have managed to get tickets after spending several days trying the same code, which HAD been saying All Gone !
    (No guarentee of course !)
    3) Different 'sponsers' often seem to sponser the same film, and all the codes do not necessarily come out ( or get posted) on the same day. Maybe they are timed to be activated in line with say a magazine sponsors publication date
4)People who cannot make the screening after actually getting tickets, email back to SFF etc, so let them know they cannot make it - so maybe a few 'cancellation' tickets may suddenly be freed up
5)Some MSErs who suddenly cannot make it will post on this thread (STRESS - the discussion ONLY thread) saying they have tickets available - or you could of course ask up front.

After that of course it is luck of the draw. Sometimes I get to 2 or 3 free sceenings a week, then can go months without any.
Just remember life BEFORE you discovered this thread, when every trip to the cinema was a major dent in the purse :D

p.s Maybe if people remembered how frustrating it was to be unable to get tickets, or go to a screening which was nearly empty ( my record is 7 people!!) they would be a bit more considerate about getting tickets for films they don't really want to go to/can probably not get to etc and getting back to SFF or posting on here to give others a second chance - just a thought ;)
Try to be kind to every mser, and many thanks to EVERYONE who posts on here so we can all benefit - it is really much appreciated :T

perhaps it depends on the cinema you go to...
at two cinemas that's never happened in about 15 previews I've gone to
incidentally Levitz, were they also checking your age?

Not that I have got into this situation yet, but I have always wondered which strategy is best: Should you email See Film First to let them know that you can't go and therefore 2 tickets have become available or should you post here and send your email confirmation to someone else? Will people actually be made aware that spare tickets have been given back to See Film First or is it the luck of the draw of people just trying all codes again shortly before the screening? What if I send my ticket on to someone and they are asked for ID? My name is on the ticket in big letters, would they be refused entry then?

  • I can't make it for tomorrow's screening of American Gangster at Odeon Greenwich. Anyone want the 2 tickets please PM me.

I went to the Elizabeth screening at Greenwich & they didn't check ID. Not sure if they will this time.

No age check, I'm a little beyond that. ;) Was a bit late, about 2/3 minutes, and they wouldn't let us through the rope bit in the foyer 'til I'd shown something as id - only used my bank card though.

It was pretty full but they kept letting people once screening was underway.
