Childcare grant turnaround?

Does anyone know how long the turnaround time is on the childcare grant? I sent off the CCG1 by special delivery on 17/09 as I had to wait a while for the nursery to pull their fingers out and sign the form but this is the fourth week he's been in nursery now so I can't afford to keep paying it myself! SF are being very vague saying oh just wait a few weeks but dont seem to understand that I don't have the money to keep shelling out for the fees!
I know some people on here work for SF so can you help with timescales please? I'm grateful in advance x

  • You can ask them when you call them. Ask them what date are they proccesing now and that will give you an idea. Make sure you tell them is CCG1 for this academic year as they have different proccesing team.

They are probably 2-3 weeks behind but give them a call.
  • Hi thanks for your reply but perhaps I have not made it clear that I already phoned them they just said wait a few weeks but I cant afford to hence the question. thanks anyway though
  • You did, thats why I recomended phoning again. Unfortunately they dont care if they left people without money:(

I did phone again and was told they are nearly a month behind and can't tell how long it will take. I can make an educated guess that if they are a month behind now then its likely to be about 6 or 7 weeks til i see some help. thats means I've got find around £800 in the interim - thanks a lot SFE!

Mary they are useless. I'm having a battle with them at the moment as they have granted my childcare as £313 for the YEAR - my costs alone are £90ish a week x

they are the crappest company I have ever dealt with.

Thats terrible! Wouldnt your nursery wait? Mine waited last year as they knew SFE too well.

Lord knows Mary! I think they just use their wooden abacus ;) the people that work there are a bunch of no-marks who seriously need training. You get told something different each time you phone x

HI no they won't wait - I used to get CTC to help with costs as I worked 16hrs alongside my degree but then lost my job in feb and had to wait a whopping 18 WEEKS before I saw any money and his fees were £100 a week!!!! had to pay that out with no income and a wedding to pay for too - eventually got backpaid but it seriously skinted me out!

vroombroom they just say "well sorry to hear that you cant afford it but all I can advise is that you wait a few weeks then ring back". what? ring back to be told to keep waiting?! it's ok, I'm sure the nursery fee fairy is going to drop off a shedload of case sometime soon so take as long as you want!

 You could have send a complain but the thing is it really isnt SFE fault, its the nursery. They took that long to fill out the form and now they cant even help you out:(
