The 'salesman' wouldn't take 'no' for an answer, therefore so she could get on with her afternoon she suggested that an information could be sent for us to look over ... Santander had transferred all of our DD's from the Natwest to themselves despite us declining the account offer.

Horrendous story on the face of it. However, surely they would at least have needed your NW account number in order to effect such a transfer? How would they have obtained that if all you'd given is permission for them to send you details of their products?

Next time your wife receives a cold call from a pushy salesman, she should try the "hanging up" method if she wants to get on with her afternoon.

I believe all RBS personal accounts are to be transferred to Santander shortly. As soon as mine does, I'm off.

My partner is having constant issues with Santander. They keep blocking his card then it takes about 2 hours on the phone to get them to sort it. CS is horrendous

  • I've banked with First Direct for many years for my personal banking and I LOVE them. Once, when I bought a car, the dealer took two lots of payment. The rep told me that the electronic device hadn't completed so filled in a manual slip. I signed after being assured that they'd check the money hadn't come out after all (I know - I was very young and naive but I learned a valuable lesson!) Anyway it did come out twice and like most people, I didn't have an extra few thousand pounds sitting in my bank account. When I called FD, in tears, they actually had me laughing by the end of the call. That's how good their customer service is and yes, I wrote in to tell them so.

Now my business account is with Cater Allen, who I have loved in the past. CA have been taken over by Santander and I'm very nervous. I don't have any major worries - fraud has always been taken care of quickly and the rest of my account activity is fairly simple. But do I wait for the Santander effect to kick in or do I find a new business bank?? Hmmmm....:undecided:undecided:undecided
