Am I alone in thinking the lack of paragraphs makes the original post unreadable.
Having said that, I am sure the O.P is right what ever he/she/ it is ranting on about.:D

Yes it looks like you are alone.

Everyone else appeared to be able to read it just fine, I'm sure the OP is very sorry she doesn't have the same super important paragraph skills you obviously have yourself...

    Time wasters....

Au contraire. A well punctuated and formatted post makes for much easier reading and will get a better response.

I haven't read the original post. I'm only commenting because I happened to have my own tale to tell.

But with regard the OP... no advice because I can't be bothered to plough through the opening post. That enormous paragraph in the middle put me right off. :D

It is all about effective communication. If a poster can't be bothered to make their question/rant readable by pressing the return key every now and again to create paragraphs, why should they then expect people to bother to try and reply with advice and observations.

I do agree with you on one point, the O.P is a time waster.:rotfl:

We all know that Santander are Sh*te, your post is just another to add to the list, but i agree, a bit more preparation on your part might have helped.
  • Almost a year ago Santander called my wife offering her a new bank account. She politely declined stating that we were happy with the Natwest, who we currently bank with. The 'salesman' wouldn't take 'no' for an answer, therefore so she could get on with her afternoon she suggested that an information could be sent for us to look over. Fast forward three weeks....we receive a letter stating that we have missed our mortgage payment! In that same postal delivery we received letters stating that our car insurance had not been honoured along with.....life insurance, business insurance, house insurance, telephone, gas and lord only knows what else.....the reason for this??? Santander had transferred all of our DD's from the Natwest to themselves despite us declining the account offer.
Our salary's, as usual, were being paid into our Natwest account....hence no money in the Santander account to pay DD's.
Anyway, long story short....at first Santander agreed and apologised for their mistake...after a further few weeks transferring details back to the Natwest guess what.......Santander done it again!!
A year later and after investigation the Financial Ombudsman, who had been provided with all the relevant evidence have decided that Good Old Santander have not done anything wrong!!!
Santander have cost us thousands of pounds because some little moron in their office wanted his commission for opening a new account.
So the reason for this rant is.... Where can we go now... Santander should really be bought to book for this.
    Any advice would be appreciated
  • Sorry I am on oi pad at the moment. It would be better if you start your own thread, I think this one is a bit ... Dogged. There is a banking thread away from this one, people with better knowledge will help you there,

How many thousands of pounds are we talking about?

If I was you, I'd take them to court for it.

Incompetent idiots. Surely they can't open an account for you without you signing an agreement? They certainly can't transfer DDs over without your authorisation. Did you never sign anything with them?

On the face of it, this is a really shocking tale.

An account was opened by Santander without your permission following a cold call from a sales team. As a result you've incurred penalties and fees and possibly had your credit rating adversely affected. On attempting to resolve the problem, Santander then repeated their earlier action, again with no authorisation from you.

Can you tell us more about what exactly the FOS ruled because it doesn't make sense that they'd conclude Santander had done nothing wrong....

In terms of where to go next if you want to pursue this, you can take Santander to court. It's worth bearing in mind though, that something in your case might not be stacking up properly else why did the FOS rule in their favour? TBH, there are certainly missing details in your story, not least of all... how did Santander know your wife's account details with Natwest? They need these to transfer the DDs and this information won't be available to them unless your wife tells them, surely...

  • Unless you want a ton of greif, do not deal with Santander and their off-shoot Cahoot. I have had the lot. Cahoot's online application forms give you spanish error messages, then crash. Santender put unexplained blocks on moving your savings (to Cahoot). "Err, we've lost your paper-work...".
I swear they must send all their staff on training sessions to hone their F Off and Die mentality. Glad to say that I have finally got most of my money away from them. Sup with the Devil with a long spoon. Deal with Santender and they'll steal the spoon then deny they have it.
  • Vote with your feet, people. You don't need to bank with Santander.
How true. Evidently, if forewarned...... 20/20 hindsight, oh that I had that.
