TalkMobile free voicemail?

I got a SimpleTalker £8/pcm rolling contract in May, it said on the screen free voicemail (I have a printout and made sure it was on the contract I signed at CPW).

From the start they have charged for voicemail.

So far excuses have ranged from:
- You are right we are fixing it.
- You are right we cannot fix it.
- It was never free (and we cannot read the pdf proof you emailed)
- We changed the terms and conditions (from day 1?)
- Ask CPW to pay for it.

So has anyone else got a "May deal", have you been treated the same?

Chris

It's strange that you've signed the contract, but don't have a copy.

If you have the printout contact CPW and they can easily sort everything out because they own Talkmobile.
  • Yes I have the contract, still not making much impression on them, they said the teerms changed, apparently co-incidentally with starting.

They can say whatever they want. You have the signed contract. If Talkmobile want to charge you then CPW must reimburse you with all these charges.
  • I called in and they also said voicemail was free. When I received the sim and set up the voicemail they then charged me 10p or 20p to pick up the message.

I called customer service and they said "voice mail is free - to set up, not to retrieve!"

So, they are twisting the truth. I can do without it as the tariff is cheap enough and only a 30 day rolling contract. Maybe one for trading standards?

Also when initially called in to ask about the service the agent told me voicemail is free. When I said I'd been charged to the next agent they said they would pull the recording and call me back to resolve. No call back from them at all.

Overall, have to say I'm happy with the service and coverage. It's the cheapest tariff of its kind and you can't have everything. 3 Mobile includes vm for £10 but only 100 minutes on the rolling contract.

  • I wonder if that means ppl who bought the deal after may get charged each time they dial 121(0/1).

Notice the other con, you cannot buy extra minutes and you cannot change tarrif mid month, so if you have a heavy month for some reason be prepared to be ripped off at penalty rates.

This is now becoming a very common feature on monthly contracts - you can get more bundled monthly minutes for your money now, but you pay painfully through the nose if you go over. I think Virgin mobile top the tree on this one and really take the biscuit at 40p/minute! Vodafone have just upped theirs to 35p/min. The cheapest run-on rates I'm aware of are actually on PAYG (8p/min on giffgaff and 5p/min on Orange with the 100 minute talk extra.
