Lucky I've got a friend in the US, So i'm saving my pennies for a Kindle Fire.
I know i'll not get access to the Movies/TV downloads. but getting a nice thin tablet with ok battery life, I've already got a kindle3 (or kindle keyboard as it's not called) so i can still buy books and read them on the fire.

also I just want to root it and see what i can run on the thing ^_~ lol

Can anyone please tell me what kind of notes you take on your Kindle? Does it have an equivalent of the Windows notepad or do you make notes on the "margins" of the books?

I was going to go for the new Kindle even though it does not support audiobooks, but after reading your comments here I began to wonder whether I would need the keyboard.

You can highlight parts of text and then type and attach a note to them for either yourself or others to read. (like adding notes in the margin of a study book.)

Thanks S0litare. I don't think that the keyboard would be very useful to me.

So the question I have to answer now is: do I go for the new cheaper model with a better screen or do I go for the 3G? I've a wifi at home but would possibly use 3G while on the move to check my emails etc.

Does anyone find the 3G really useful? I don't have an iphone or a pad as I am too mean to pay for the internet on the go :) Free 3G could potentially solve the problem although I am guessing that the Kindle browser is very limited.

The browser is very limited! any page that has a lot of moving images or flash won't work or look terrible!
But static pages like webmail are fine!

I've a wi-fi version, but i've used my phone to get my kindle on-line in the past, but very rarely and that was when the wifi at the pub i usually go to was down ^_^ lol

3g would only be useful if you're out and about for longer than a day or so travelling or on holiday. then the free 3g is useful to get new books. but other than that wifi would probably do...

I did use the 3g as a simple web browser, but must admit I have done little more than check mail with it recently.
Saying that, I did buy some more books while in the South of France over 3g and it was fine.

I've got the new smaller Kindle on Friday and am so far loving it. However I want to get a case for it, and although I can buy one from Amazon they are pricey. I've tried looking on Ebay but all the ones seem to be for the old Kindle with the keyboard.

Can you suggest what to search under or a link as I need one asap as I'm off on hols soon!

    Cheers
