Have you set the PC to only connect to your network, and only use infrastructure mode? If not, see the section in these links starting with "Assuming"

You can do the changes wirelessly, it will just drop the connection (and hopefully reconnect) when you hit apply/save.
Ok I've changed the channel on the router, and carried out anything that I hadn't in your two posts, and it still drops out, how can I get any updated firmware for it, I looked on the cable and wireless website but couldn't seem to find anything?{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -

Sorry mate I missed that in all the other replies, will it make a masive difference in spped, I notice it's gone from 54Mbps to 11Mbps? I'm assuming I change this on the router home page, which I've done. Guess time will tell if it makes a difference. Thanks.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
Unless you copy large files over the network, you won't notice a big speed difference. 11 Mbps is still faster than broadband.0

I have actually noticed a big difference in speed between using an 11 and 54 card, it may be driver related, but the 11 card knocks about 2 meg off a speed test.. with the b card, I get 2.5-3 meg, and with a G, 4.5-5.
In theory an 11 meg card should be able to cope easily, but in my case it doesn't.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
One thing to check is if the wireless on the laptop is set to "allow the pc to turn off this device to save power".
Right click My Computer, choose Properties - this opens System Properties.
Click on Hardware, then Device Manager, click Network Aadptors, then double click on the wireless adaptor.
Clcik on the Power Management tab and if there is a tick in the box as mentioned above, untick it.
Secondly, check on the router how long the dhcp allocation lasts (some are set to 1 day, some a week) check to make sure you haven't accidently changed anything.
